But what if i don't know if it will hit and i do 43Bubble or Lightning, it's both very unsafe...
Then do either 43 RH or 43b4, both are safe. 43 is difficult to hitconfirm on its own. Its better to do 43 ligtning/bubble as a starter to punish or off of a jump punch.

Punish with 4 3 lightning. NEVER just throw it out, unless you are going for a mind game with EX lightning instead. 4 3 RH cancel into throw/more RH cancels/pokes/3 3 mixups/1, 12, or 124 mixups with or without RH cancels = Rain's basic strategy. Always try and get in with Rain, don't try and zone BUT use your lightning intelligently.

When the opponent zones you and trys to keep you out, scare them with a lightning to punish their projectiles. Most projectile trades are viable with Rain since the lightning makes them fall through the air VERY slow, so you can catch them with a lightning to trade with their projectile, block it and then catch them with another lightning on the way down. Which then gives you opportunities to read wakeup/teleport/or check them with more lightning.

Lightning is also useful against the characters that control the air; kitana, kabal, liu kang, mileena, sindel, and others can be punished with a swift lightning while throwing fans or air fireballs. Then after they are hit with the lightning, you are free to dash juggle them for a full combo (if you catch them close enough)/throw a fast bubble to get some damage into teleport mind game wakeup/ or if they are fullscreen just hit them with another lightning on the way down.

Whats combos are you guys doing in the corner? off of Xray? Air to Air jP?

I usually do 4,3, lightning, 4,3, geyser, 4,3,geyser in the corner or if I'm out of the corner close enough to where I can fit that uppercut after the lightning and have them in the corner I'll do that. Off an X-ray all I think you can do is 4,3,squirt, you can do 4,3, lightning as well but it will knock them down regardless if you had previously used lightning or not in that combo. I usually use the X-ray somewhere in the middle so I can just do 4,3, squirt at the end. I think the most I got is 61%.

jip, 43, bubble, uppercut, 43, lightning, 43, X-ray,43, squirt. I think that's it. Or I'll do 4,3, lightning, uppercut, 43, X-ray, 43, squirt. Which is 59%.

But I guess you're asking if you just use a random X-ray to catch someone. Then I don't know :( what you can do. I know 4,3, lightning will not work.

Can you teleport then bait for the wake up attack? Or is the teleport's recovery too slow to let you block?

Yeah, you don't have to end it that way but it adds pressure and you can always block. You could probably end it with a geyser.

If you teleport at the end of the combo you should be good to block. You could most likely teleport than do an EX RH if you think their going to wake up. Pretty much nothing beats Rain's Ex RH.

Wait what? no. You can't block the wake-up attack. doing 2~Teleport is better cause you wont get punished for it.

I just came up with this, I don't know if anybody else already found it. It's not very practical anyway, just major damage:)

You're opponent needs to be about jump distance away from the corner. You jip so that you are on the not-in-the-corner-side.

Activate ex-boost, jip, 43~lightning, dash, uppercut, 43~geyser, 43~geyser.

After you uppercut your opponent he is in the corner and you are close enough to do the 3, 4 ~ geyser twice. This does 74% damage using only one bar for the ex-boost.

The ex-boost seems to do a lot more added damage than the regular one. You guys use boost?

Against smart opponents, NO sir.

If you really want to use boost, do it after a lightning hit. This will give you time to go in for a combo.

You know you can land a water bubble after a lightning strike at fullscreen right? So you can use it to close the distance if they are zoning you out.

Just wanted to point that out. :)

Not to be disrespectful but, you can do a 45% damage combo without using any meter (also with reset choice) so I wouldnt use X-Ray combos with only 40+% damages :) Just a tip

Yes, but the difference is... I can't land a lot of those combos. I, however, can land this one 99% of the time.

So... guaranteed damage vs... multiple fails and dropped combos. I'd say the former wins. :p

I also said that when I saw the 45% lightning to uppercut combo. Shit looks impossible as hell. But after practicing the timing, I say that its easy to pull off....of course drops and miscalculations are always there, but the risk is worth the reward. Keep in mind that Rain heavily depends on meter, so proper meter management is a must.

Just keep on doing it on practice and youll be able to nail it everytime. :)

what is the input for that 45% lightning combo?
