The Pinball Arcade

Just passing the word that The Pinball Arcade will be released for the Xbox 360 in a day or so and for the PS3 in about a week.

what it is? It's a app that first started out on the Android and iOS devices and has now moved on to the home consoles. The game emulates real life pinball tables and more and more tables will be added monthly for years to come according to the developers.

While I've never been a hardcore pinball fan, I am looking forward to this. I always did enjoy a good game of pinball due to all the lights and cool stuff found on the playing field. It was almost like a huge toy with just a lot of cool mechanical stuff along with all the info the dot matrix would throw at you.

REAL pinball can never be replaced by pinball simulation, but there is actually a couple good ones out there.

Pinball FX2 (i know its on XBL, not sure about PSN) & Zen Pinball only on PSN (i think they have it on 3DS now too)

Yep. Although you can't really compare the two since one is video pinball and the other is real pinball. I have Pinball FX2 on the 360 and love it. It truly is one of the best simulations of pinball ever made in the format. Not to mention that it is a hell of an improvement over Zen Pinball on PSN. They even brought over some of the PSN only tables to FX2 and you'd be surprised how much better they play with the physics found in FX2.

I'm really looking forward to The Pinball Arcade just to see how the ball handles and of course, the real life tables.

Same here. I'd always be the only one playing the pinball machines in Chinatown Fair when they had them there. Such good times.

And if you have Netflix, I really suggest checking out the documentary called Special When Lit. It's a hell of a nice doc on pinball.

I wonder how much pinball machines run, I'm assuming they're quite the pretty penny.
Depends, classics and even brand new limited Editions run in the thousands. but they are a true art form, a true throwback too. Being a great pinball player is an absolute skill.

The recently released AC/DC machine can be had for about $3,000. The Limited Edition ones I believe run for about $5,000.

Nowadays, Stern is theonly pinball machine makers left in the world and they make machines from already established franchises. I'd be hard for them to even attempt an original theme.

Yeah I figured they'd run around there, I miss playing the physical pinball machines though, always were fun as a kid. Sad that they're like totally dead now though as are the arcades; this shit needs to come back.

Certain companies still make them, but mostly custom stuff, movie releases etc.

I played the marvel pinball, it was really fun but I suck it it. I would always have it go down the side. I couldn't believe some high scores were in the billions...

Yeah, it's possible to get those scores. The players who do it are just really damn good and I've played some of them. Like Tim Static said, being a pro in pinball takes a lot of skill. There is more to it than just hitting the flippers. As for the Marvel tables, I only have the first pack sinc eI love the Blade one, but it wouldn't surprise me if you saw those scores in the Spiderman table, seeing as it's the general opinion of everyone hwo has played it that it's very easy to rack up huge scores in it.

I'm so glad I saw this thread and I decided to get FX2 for XBL...amazing! I love how you can do split screen, but my girl and I prefer to just take turns. Epic quest is a very fun table and I plan on demoing all the tables if not buying all of them haha. I really like how the FX2 site really breaks down the tables and you can zoom in and look it over.

I do find it hard to read the "story" at the top and know what to aim for while concentrating on the ball.

If only FX2 made a mk table...

Pretty much the way I felt after trying out the demo. I uess it's just hard to get used to after playing the hell out of Pinball FX2. And I was doing some research and found out that this is prettymuch just a straight up port of the app found on the smartphones/tablets.

I'll give it another chance, but most likely when they get some other tables up there.

I love pinball, it was one of the first games I would play when I was a toddler.
You have the high score on my FL, but nobody really plays pinball on my FL, I'm coming for your head! Mike what are your favorite tables? I think Epic Quest is my favorite so far, I was hoping Rocky and Bullwinkle would have been better, but I will probably still get it and Ms.Splosion Man.

I hope one day I can get a pinball table, I just can't imagine the cost of repairs haha. I can't imagine the time and effort it takes to design a pinball table.
