So now that we've now gone through another 12 months of training, playing, videos, tutorials, guides, articles, conversations and everything else that comes along with being part of a gaming community (either online or locally), here's a place for everyone to share improvements and level-ups they made throughout the year, and thanks to people that helped them.
Let me kick it off by saying that 2013 was a big year for me gameplay-wise, as it was the first time I made a commitment to becoming a fundmentally solid player. With Mk9, although I'd watched it for a long time, played it a lot, and absorbed a lot from talking to and listening to so many people, I started taking it seriously late, and it wasn't until IGAU that everything really started to click for me yomi-wise.
The first couple of people I played in IGAU beat the Supercrap out of me (Juggs and WonderChef), but after I started to get the hang of things, I ended up improving faster than ever before.
To be able to sit down and have good matches against good players, complete with all the interesting mind games, rather than getting completely blown out and left wondering what the heck is happening, is truly rewarding (except you, DarthArma.. Dat tech.. I still don't entirely understand what the heck is going on, rofl)
This year I've had great games with a ton of people including:
rev0lver
Relaxedstate
AK Glass_Sword
AK GamerBlake
GGA pimpimjim
Emperor_Level100
Duck Nation
AVN|jonnitti
and many more.
Thanks to FrothyOmen and BDMao88 for being around when the game first launched to play.
And thanks to the 1000s of online players I destroyed this year with extreme prejudice as retribution for having lost over and over to scrub tactics in MK9 (former Raiden and Kung Lao players, I'm looking at you). Without people like you, I wouldn't have been angry enough to really learn to play.
I've learned so much this year and it really felt like a new beginning; so thanks everyone, and thank you TYM family!
