As we await for Mortal Kombat Legacy season 2 to be released in full this Thursday, September 26th ScreenRant.com has recently been able to get a word in with director, Kevin Tancharoen. Discussing the topics relating around not only the web-series, but also the feature film, Kevin gave some very interesting chunks of information regarding both. For instance, he explains why certain story lines were used for certain characters like Raiden. Like why was he portrayed as a crazy person and not a Thunder God?

In addition to this, Tancharoen speaks on how he foresees the next Mortal Kombat feature film to be like...

We’re definitely going to be focused on the tournament, but it’s not going to be a tournament movie. Because when you try and do a tournament movie, you’re already pushed up against a corner and a wall as far as your structure. You meet the person, you train the person, and the end of it is the tournament. And I don’t want to be forced into that style of storytelling because we’ve seen those movies before. We’ve seen The Quest. We’ve seen Bloodsport and Enter the Dragon. And now those movies have turned into dance movies. So it’s not necessarily a tournament movie. Is the tournament a central focus in the film? Yes.

For the feature film, as opposed to calling it a tournament, I want to take it more as an approach of war. What’s a war movie like? There’s many different versions of war films and ‘Mortal Kombat’ lends itself to being more of a war film.

I was lucky to have KT retweet my request for a musical episode in season 3. Everyone groaned.... but I imagine it could be like a rock opera such as Repo! The genetic opera, which was dark and made by the people who did the Saw movies. Imagine MK with that level of darkness.

HE has an interesting vision I would like to see realized, the idea of approaching the film as a war movie is a little odd, but lends itself to many other ideas.
