That's right TYM. You heard it here first; with all the recent 'toasty hoopla', the only logical step is to throw down the gauntlet and issue a challenge to the entire community.

So: herefore and henceforth I introduce you, the community, to the Official REO Toasty Boost Challenge. Why is it named after REO? Because REO is the #1 doubter of tournament toasty prowess.

To quote him exactly: "You would have a better shot at winning a major with Cyber Sub-Zero than pulling off a toasty boost in a tournament match"

So the challenge is this; whoever pulls off the toasty boost first in an actual tournament match, wins a prize to be decided by the entire community.

The rules are as follows:

1) Must be an actual tournament match. No casuals, no warmups/button checks etc.
2) There must be at least 24 players at the tournament. This means it cannot be your basement weekly casual 6-man team tournament.
3) You must have video proof.. Or at least a bunch of well-known people to vouch for you. That's the only way we can verify that it was legit.

So, what should the prize be? And who will be one to win?

I challonge you! :)

You can get Dan Forden every 5-15 minutes if you restart the game. CSZ is able to win a tournament every 4.(9)-14.(9) minutes? Damnnn.

Regardless if it happens, its not something you can seriously rely on. REO is 100% correct.
Mark my words -- there is no regardless -- it will happen. The only question that remains, is when/where/who.

P.S. Also, it's possible that he just said that because he's aiming at being the first one to pull it off. Either way, it's not far out of reach for someone in this community to pull this out of the bag :)

Im not saying it wont ever happen, im just saying it just isn't something you should play for, rely on or really try for. You play to win the match anyway you can. If it happens, cool, but beyond that........

Getting the toasty bonus doesn't mean anything in the context of this challenge. In order for this challenge to actually serve the purpose I think you are going for, the challenge should be to 1. get the toasty bonus, and 2. win the match. Getting the toasty bonus and going on to lose would only strengthen the point REO is trying to make.

Lol^

LBSH Smoke, Cyrax, Rain, Shang, and Ermac probably have the best chances of using this in a real game as they probably have the best uppercut combos. It only makes sense that Kabal is the #1 best at this too since his corner BnB gives him, like, 3 shots at this. He needs it

I dunno, characters like Sonya get a bunch of random toasty's just because they have really fast uppercuts that are useful for beating crossovers or getting out of random pressure. Don't be surprised if someone like riu48 or Tyrant ends up getting it before a smoke or shang player.

Make video mandatory, we've already had too many issues in the community with people lying, or getting their friends to help them win competitions.

Kenshi has a BNB that has an uppercut, that does the same damage and sets up the exact same way as the Tolkeen Bait.... I've found a new goal lol.

What I'm saying is that those uppercuts aren't guaranteed. Sure they are very good antiairs, but they are all working on the assumption that the opponent will jump in, and is NOT baiting the uppercut and going to do something like teleport/ermac air blast etc. The characters I mentioned all work their uppercuts into combos with either no net loss or even a large damage gain in some cases. By hitting a combo, they have 1-2 guaranteed, inescapable uppercuts per combo that could all potentially yield dan forden...

I offer up two slices of buttered toast as the prize. Artisan French loaf, farm fresh creamery butter, zip locked, and FedEx'd within 24 hours of definitive proof.

I will delivar.

PS: m2dave will be the one to do this. He uppercuts at an alarming rate.
