Tacharoen on MK motion picture, "script is in a good place - figuring out the budget/locations"

If you told me there was going to be yet another Mortal Kombat film coming to theaters I would be quite anxious... but don't hold your breath. In a recent interview ComingSoon.net did with Director, Kevin Tancharoen the wheels are in motion, however, shooting the movie appears yet to happen. The general understanding was that the next Mortal Kombat game would come out alongside the movie... in 2014, but will this really happen? When asked about the current status of the film Kevin told ComingSoon.net, "We're still pushing through on that. The script is in a good place, we're just kind of figuring out the budget and locations and that whole process is where we're at".



He also states that he would like for web-series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy to last for multiple seasons. Read the article in full, here!

A 2014 release is actually quite doable the longest process of making a film is the pre-production and the post production. The actual production and filming takes the least amount of time most the time. A big budget film can be filmed in acouple months its the polish and resources gathering that take forever.

Right now i love how the web series is going, less hollywood, feels more organic and independent. A big budget Mk film is kinda scary because it could end up a souless popcorn flick like green lantern. Kevin at the helm makes me optimistic though.

But we get awesome 10 minutes a piece YouTube shorts, omgzzers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lyke who needz a movey wen we can watch x-tra low budget YouTube stuffz with lame cheesy acting.

I was over MK Legacy after seeing the first few. Reading this and hearing about how these shorts will continue completely destroys hope for the movie. Why bother taking a risk with another MK movie when the fanbase is so content with their cheap and safe shorts???
Seems like they're using Kevin T for these shorts and keeping him on the hook in hopes of getting the green light for the movie. Just a theory...but everyone, please do go ahead telling people how great these are.
