Did you ever consider playing Alan Wake?This was one of my favorite games of all time and I completely forgot it when there was a survival horror discussion.
I wouldn't quite say the game is scary, but you definitely can't make stupid choices in terms of gameplay specially when playing Nightmare mode.
And from what I've heard American Nightmare is trash because all it is is just a little arcade game that's just random.
