Super move alternative

What would be an alternative to character specific super move, like MK9's x-ray? Maybe some kind of mechanic or something that hasn't been done yet. I have no idea, but something new would be interesting. Maybe other games have it.

Anything that doesn't do a huge fancy ass animation of the character at activation.

Makes it harder to react to and thus, better.

It's what I'd prefer, anyways. MK9 Tom Brady Special is the best.
