I've seen a lot twitter buzz about how Krilin is going to be low tier or the weakest character in the game due his canonical history of being killed multiple times.
Thing is, in DBZ fighting games things not always translate the same, in fact, Kriling as been among the toppest 5/10 best characters in mostly if not every dragon ball game, so the compilation below isn't going to be pointed out to a specific game, but a round of many DBZ fighting games in general based around their mechanics and stuff, not counting SSJ4 Goku, SSJ4 Vegeta and SSJ4 Gogeta which are mostly broke due their power levels.
Without further bla bla, the usual suspects on the strongest characters (mostly S tiers) are:
Regular Goku, Broly, Krilin, Teen Gohan, nº17, Kidd Buu, Ultimate gohan, Raditz,
Runner ups (Mostly A tiers):
Vegeta, Kid Trunks, Cell, Genyu Force fastest guy in the world, Turles, Gogeta, Vejito, Picollo, nº18 and Super nº17 and the list goes down from there.
I'm not going to go in super detail here, but i will still explain why some of these characters are usually super strong in each DBZ games.
Regular Goku: usually has Kaioken and Super Sayan, which keep his power up game as good as many but what really makes regular goku scary in these games are 3 things:
a) The best teleport in the game
b) Spirit bomb can be boosted
c) His strings, and vanishing moves are usually very strong
d) On SSJ2 his ultimate attack can counter others ultimates and blasts (because he teleports on activation)
Broly: Since Budokai 3 i presume, Broly has been giving power level advantage over other characters below him, by being so, Broly will not get receive stun effect even though he is taking minimal damage, unless a character with lower power level boost himself into high tension (Ki must be all charged up, or character has to be in mode to use ultimates by charging a second wave of ki bars until lightnings starts coming out.)
So if you're playing against a broly player with a character with significant power level below broly, you might throw the punches or kicks you want, it won't make him finch unless its a ki blast or high tension, thats pretty broken imo and to make it worse, in Tenkaichi 3 they gave him command grabs, and unblockable setups even from his ultimate attack so broly has:
a) Power level advantage
b) Unblockable super setups that can become guaranteed
c) hi-tension powerup boost
Krilin: The most underrated character right now, and why is krillin always higher?
a) Auto teleport (can teleport at any incoming attack on its own 3 times after tech activation)
b) unblockables (desctructo disk is usually unblockable)
c) he is small and hard to hit on top of everything he can do
nº17
a)Ki charges on its own without needing to charge ki, only charges for hi tension
b) Fastest body blow stun in the game (stuns for additional hits, hard to vanish against)
c) His ki blast are two energy blast that deal a lot of damage, very hard to avoid
d) Can put ppl backturned for guaranteed unescapable hits
e) In Budokai Tenkaichi (PS3) they gave him a kick that breaks ppls guard on top of it all (WTF!)
teen gohan
a) best power-up boost in the game (when active, raises attack power, defense power, ki power, hi tension, and can escape ki blockers by doing it again)
b) ultimate attack deals a lot of damage when powered up.
c) he is small as krilin very hard to hit
d) very fast strings combos and ties with nº17 fastest body blow stun in the game
Kidd Buu
a) small as teen gohan and krillin, very annoying to deal with
b) super fast, among the fastest if no the fastest character in the game
c) can heal himself
d) top 3 best body blows stuns in the game with nº17 and teen gohan
e) Vanishing are very hard to see.
Ultimate Gohan
a) very good and fast strings
b) Very good bodyblow
c) Can force ppl into backsturned positions for unescapable hits
d) Very fast and vanishing attacks are very hard to see
e) Auto Teleport (wild sense)
Raditz
a) Usually has very good strings
b) His Ki blasts (saturday crush) do a lot of damage
c) Can cancel a bunch of strings into strings
d) auto teleport (wild sense)
These are usually the strongest, i dunno how DBFZ its going to play, i'm actually waiting out to see, but the game looks interesting so far, can't wait to see Kriling being top again.
