Story behind your main!

Sage Leviathan

I'm platinum mad!
My apologies if this thread exists already. If so, close this =D

This thread is for telling of how you chose your main(s).

Did they look cool?
Do they remind you of someone or something?
Was it random?

Share, ladies and gents!

A prop on the stage of life.
This might have been covered already...I remember a similar question awhile back. But anyway I'm a Csub/Ermac mainer. Csub I picked up when playing through the story I just liked the way he felt. Ermac I had no intentions of using but when I realized I could destroy my friend with him repeatedly I stuck with him. Of course that was when the game first came out so TKP was incredibly fast and had a better hitbox. This same friend destroys me in any other fighting game where luck isn't involved. You can see why I stuck with the Easymac.

Blue Blurs for Life!
I use so many characters, people have a hard time figuring out who my "main" is. Some main more than one character, some cycle through so many, and some just stick with one. I fulfill the second criteria.

Some of the characters I use represent people who have inspired me with their strategies so I could improve my own game. Examples of this would be how SHORYUKEN represents my Sub-Zero, marvaz represents my Liu Kang, Pig of the Hut represents my Cyber Sub-Zero, Mr. Mileena represents my Kitana...I think you get the idea. But rather than discuss how I main multiple characters, I'll just talk about my primary character:

Raiden.

His story as a character fascinates me in ways I can't quite explain. He represents the logical portion of my personality through his unending wisdom. Originally I was inspired to use him by...a friend whom I had a regrettable fallout with (this happened back when I played MKDC), I kept going with the flow, and I was startled by how well I connected with Raiden. People may call his playstyle "noobish" all because of his teleport, but this goes to show a lack of understanding about him. It takes more than a teleport to be a master of space control like how Raiden is...much tougher to play with him than what people realize. No matter which Mortal Kombat I play, you can always count on the Thunder God lurking in my roster.

LionHeart V1

You will feel deaths cold embrace
I was 4 years old, went into the arcade with my uncle. Saw MK1 played it. Since blue is my favorite color I saw subzero and i picked him immediately and stuck with him ever since. Oh and i thought the fact that he could freeze people was cool.

Hitomi's Pet
I always thought Kitana was cool when I was younger. I found her storyline engaging, and I thought she was gorgeous - not to mention I like a girl who kicks butt.

In MK9, I was really drawn in by her fiery personality, but I had decided to exclusively main her before hand.

Faded Dreams V

Retired June 2012. Unretired June 2013.
Smoke was a ****ing hidden boss, man....and I found him! It was like...destiny. I had no idea you could play as human Smoke in UMK3, and honestly, I've never been that much of a fan of Cyber Smoke (despite my avatar pic), so I was thrilled to see him finally return after so many years in this game. And no, I don't count that hideous "human" Smoke from Armageddon.

Come On Die Young
I started MK9 by maining Sektor. Sektor is the most badass Mortal Kombat character there is, and any arguments saying otherwise I will swiftly destroy. To put it simply, he's always been my favorite. I dropped him because I thought he was too weak compared to the rest of the cast. Obviously this was wrong, but this was back in June when Sektor was pretty much considered low-mid or low tier.

So, I needed to find someone else. I was thinking of switching to Reptile, but he was already pretty popular. I wanted to find a character who wasn't considered OP and wasn't that popular, but still very good. I almost switched to Nightwolf, but then I watched Konqrr play Kitana at Revelations. The next day I was practicing her combos and stuck to her, and haven't gone back.

Jelan

Aquaman is dead lel
I -like many others- wanted to main Scorpion. That didn't work out because even if he is my favourite character that relentless rushdown is not my style. After that I tried Mileena but geez, the roll input was killing so I gave up with her and picked up Raiden. I used him for quite a while but then I bought a stick and I thought doing Mileenas roll would be a much easier with it. I'm playing with her since.

Garbage, bro
I thought Quan Chi was the coolest character in the game from story mode. He's just so boss. Biggest pimp in video gaming history. And he has a really, really sexy voice.

CitizenSnips

A seldom used crab named Lucky. AKA Citizen Snips.
Using Reptile since I was 3 years old. Picked him because my favorite color is green and he reminded me of Yoshi lol

Sub-Zero has been my favorite since MK1 on the genesis. His power is just insanely awesome and cool (no pun intended).

Also, blue is my favorite color.

Oh and let's not forget the fact that he's used by one of my favorite competitive players, Tom Brady :)

Playing: Injustice, Persona, Blazblue, and MK
My first MK was UMK3.

I was like 6 years old.

All the characters looked either scary or stupid except for Liu Kang who stood out to me so I used him. He also looked bad ass with the get up and the bruce lee noises. I love a challenge so I went with the human fighting all these voodoo ass characters with their special moves. It was like facing a boss character every time I played against these evil ninjas, sorcerers, robots, gods, etc. winning with Liu Kang felt amazing.

Loved winning with Liu Kang, especially against Human Smoke players, which only happened once. >.>

Liu Kang dies in MKDA, I was ready to drop the game already.

Until I saw Kenshi.

I was beasting with him in that game. ^_^

AK Toxic

Graphic Designer
Sub-Zero has always been my favorite character, and Reptile seemed like a likely choice to fit the whole "Toxic" theme, also he's a strong character.

Slego

The Saltan of Salt
Everyone gave Sonya tons of shit when the game came out, absolutely no one mained her and people loled as much as sheeva. I saw Morty being a boss and went lolololo I gotta try this.

Justice

Warrior
I generally pick the females in any game I play simply because they are generally the fastest characters. Sometimes I wonder if I don't have some form of ADD or something :D

I was in highschool when MK came out. I took one look at Scorpion and I knew my days of getting scrubbed with Cammy and Vega were over. I went through ladder with Scorpion in the beginning, simply because he was easiest. But, with only 7 characters to choose from, eventually I was enlightened to the epicness that is the Sonya Rushdown :suckit: Had to play Kitana and Sheeva in MK2 since Sonya was captured or some other stoopid shit :rant3: :rant2:

Mash d+1~Cat Claws
Elder God
NetherRealm Studios
In MK2 I thought the female ninjas were cool, the fans were an interesting weapon and I could do big ass combos. So actually pretty much the same logic 20 years later.
