I don't know specifically what he was listening to, but if you like soft and smooth jazz like that, I highly suggest this..

Im more of a Jazz Fusion or a rhythmic smooth jazz person, but i do appreciate some laid back smooth jazz from time to time, the one you pointed out is quite nice btw.
