So, are WiiU Injustice players potentially screwed?

Troid

Spleens are overrated anyways....
I just want to preface this by saying that Injustice has been one of my favorite modern fighters in a while, and that with it and MK9 NRS really outdid themselves in turning it around and are making fun, competitive fighters again. In the months leading up to Injustice I was so hyped for it that I read/watched every preview, and right before it came out I read several reviews, which further increased my hype, since it got a generally positive reception.

On launch day, as soon as I could, I made my way to Gamestop (as I had it preordered, something I rarely do) and picked up my copy for the WiiU. Yes, this is a thread about the WiiU version of the game, which as most know has gotten shafted content-wise almost every step of the way. The game doesn't have friend matches/lobbies, just basic ranked/player matches (for no real reason), it got the first four DLC characters and patches several months late, and as of late still doesn't have MMH, Zatanna, or the latest patch.

Now I can imagine what some reasonable people might respond with: "Why did you buy the game, if you, the consumer, had access to the info that the game was lacking in certain areas, when you could buy a different, complete/supported version."

The thing is though is that up to launch out of all of the previews/reviews I read, none of them mentioned the lacked content in the WiiU version, as most of them used review copies of the the 360 version (some used PS3). It wasn't until I tried playing online that I noticed the lack of content compared to the 360 version my friend had. It wasn't a big deal to me though, as most of my fights were played offline, with family/friends.

Then it took several months for the four DLC characters/patches to come out, which was actually also fine by me (though I was more peeved my lack of patches than characters); I could wait, because NRS said they'd come eventually.

Currently, NRS/WB has been almost completely quiet as to whether the WiiU version will get the last two characters and final patch, and with the news that the WiiU will not be getting the Ultimate Edition I feel they might just not release anything else for this version at all.

I get that the WiiU version probably didn't sell well, but they already have 4 out of the 6 characters available in it, would putting the resources into adding the last two and the patch be that much of a problem? I've already spent $80+ (Buying day one, $20 for all DLC chars with no season pass option I might add, and a few costume packs bought with leftover funds) on this game, I'll spend $10+ more on it for the last two characters if they'll just finish this version of the game, and I'll do gladly, because I fucking love this game.

If they don't finish this version by making the last content available, and I have to technically spend more money to buy the game over again by getting the UE on another system, then I'll be left feeling cheated out of a lot of money.

I'm not trying to come across as whiny or anything, I just want to play this game, and if they do eventually finish the WiiU version, I'll be a happy camper, but if they don't I don't know what I'll do; I certainly won't buy it again, or if I do it'll be extremely cheap and used, as I've already more than enough supported this game with my money.

Anyway I just wanted to vent that and if you took the time to actually read this and have something constructive to say, then go on ahead. Peace.

They release them after all characters are done. Obviously, there's more DLC Characters.

^^ @Durpyena: If that ends up being the case, then that's fine by me, but the release of a complete edition kind of implies no more DLC will be made. Obviously they very well could make more DLC; to be honest it's not exactly clear right now I would say.

But, the Ultimate Edition says this.
The PS®Vita version, which is adapted for the handheld experience by Armature Studio, will feature touch controls for mini-games in the story mode and S.T.A.R. Labs Missions, Ad-hoc and Wi-Fi multiplayer, collectible hero cards, and all DLC released to date.
That must mean there's more. :p

Ah, okay I guess I missed that, thanks for pointing it out. The lack of a WiiU UE doesn't give me much hope of them adding any of it to that version though.

Well, first of all, if they're launching a product across all the platforms, everyone should have the same experience and shame on WB for letting this happen.

But then again... Nintendo has some pretty shitty online restrictions, that make patching and the implementation of DLC difficult, so I can't really blame NRS/WB.

However, you as a consumer should've known better. It's a console where not even fight sticks work, that's been historically known to be unsupported by third parties and where the online system is subpar. Hell here at TYM we were loling at it, saying Mikemetroid is pretty much the only sucker who would buy it for WiiU.

If you really love the game and the community, get it for ps3 or xbox, used or not who gives a shit. If you don't want to spend the money, then don't, and stick to WiiU. It's not like you're practicing for tournaments or anything.

Ahh yess the WiiU Version of Injustice.

Idk I stopped caring for it after a 150 win streak lol.

The only reason why I bought it on WiiU was because I didn't have live and I didn't have a PS3.... so I was like hell it won't hurt to get for WiiU... Which it didn't at first cause quite frankly I'm not much of an online player and the competition on the WiiU was hilariously bad. I did get top 32 at a 250 man tourney with WiiU skills however :)

You were on notice. A bunch of multi-platform games delay or never release their DLC/patches on the Wii U. This is a common enough occurrence that by now, you should know better than to buy a multi-platform game for the Wii U when you have other options.

There are fightsticks for the WiiU. There's a Tekken Tag 2 one and and you can use the Tatsunoko versus Capcom stick as well since the game supports wii classic controllers. Since the game was developed for the WiiU alongside the other versions, and since barely any reviews noted the differences in the versions, when I bough it at launch I had the impression that it would be mostly the same, though I wasn't sure how the online would be functionality-wise, I certainly wasn't expecting a chunk to be taken out of it. If I had decided to get the version down the road, when the problems were well known, then that would have been more my problem, but at launch they weren't frank about the missing WiiU content until it was pretty much found out by people playing it day 1.

If it comes to it, I'll probably get the complete edition for the 360 or PS4 (if I get one), but the fact that I might have to do that to enjoy the full version of the game is very disheartening after all I've invested in the game already.

Low quality sticks specially made for the launch of those games. Not the run of the mill sticks / hitboxes / gamepads.

For future reference, always buy the tournament standard.

What do you mean WiiU skills? Aside from differences in controller preference it plays exactly the same as the other versions, unless you're referring to it generally not being as up to date patch wise?

Actualy the Tatsunoko stick is your run of the mill Madcatz SE stick. And the TTT2 is also the tournament edition stick that they had.

I don't mean anything by it besides the fact that I played only on WiiU for the first like 2 months

People who actually dedicate themselves to learn the game, and more often than not go to tournaments don't play on WiiU. Because, as you mentioned, it's not up to date, it doesn't have all the DLC and yeah, because you're limited to the fight stick/controller you can't use anywhere else. Therefore, most of the competitive players that are really damn good, are in either Xbox or PS3.

Well, I also own the wii u version cuz I'm a smash bros fan, so I'm hoping we get the latest DLC/patch too. That being said I also think we have several really good players, sure there may be a bunch who aren't so great, but I'm willing to bet several could go toe to toe with some of the best out there. I've also heard the online competition in general isn't so great on the other systems either.

I figured that's what you meant anyway. Also yeah I was about to say that the TvC stick was just like the Madcatz SE, which you can easily mod with a better stick/buttons. It's more entry level, but I have a modded WWE stick for the 360 that works great.

Well the converter I got for it (That worked on PS3) actually worked on PC and is great for MAME night with the nerd frands. It was only like 40 bucks for a real madcatz stick lol.

Play Monster Hunter!
They are probably waiting for all the DLC to be done for good, so they can update it all in one batch, similar to how they did the first season of content on the WiiU.

Obviously there is a very low chance of more characters, but they have confirmed more skins are on there way.

I don't think it will ever get lobbys though.

Honestly (like I said) that's all I want. I want to be able to play all the characters with all the updates so that I can play any version at any time and know what I''m doing, it's just the latest announcement that makes it seem unclear what's going to happen, which is frustrating.

If I were you, I would just pick up the Ultimate Edition for Xbox or PS4. I bought MK9 three times altogether. Once on Xbox, then the complete edition on Vita, and finally the PC version. I just think of it as supporting the game and its developers.

Playing an outdated version drains all motivation to play while knowing all the things that you could have. I just don't understand how difficult it would be add the ability to play with a friend. I don't care if its friend codes let me play someone else other than randoms for once. I know when buying it that I would not get a perfect experience, but the lack of some features smells like nintendo interference with its nazi online rules.

Nintendo better not fuck up smash online this time around, or there won't be any fighters to play on the WiiU for me.

I've already supported the developers by buying the game new and all the DLC I could so far. I'll continue to support the developers if they release the rest of the content by buying that as well. I might even buy another version of the UE when it goes down in price later. I bought MK9 new day 1, and almost all the DLC for it. I support NRS; they make some pretty good shit. If I had all the money I could ever want, I'd buy a bunch of systems/games to hold a tournament because none ever happen where I live.
