Go to hell.
My brother gave me a 3DS because he lost a bet, and I have no idea what to do with it. But I hear this Pokemon thing is a big deal, can someone explain it to me before I shell out money to play a game I'll probably be ashamed of and only play in the bathroom for fear of being seen?
Well, being seen by someone besides Cossner

what are you people saying

ok, if I get one, which one should I get
Pokemon FireRed is like the old ones but with updated graphics so it's the best bet for older games... (LeafGreen too but Red is obviously better)

If you kan't play roms then just get one of the pokemon games you kan play on the 3DS. Normally you kan't even play GBA games.

Strange to see a gamer who is foreign to the ways of Pokemon. lol

Have you ever played any Japanese-made RPG with a turn-based battle system? That's pretty much how battles are here. Basically, you start out as a mute protagonist (yourself) in your home town. From there, you choose one of three starter Pokemon. Afterwards, you journey to other towns, and encounter other Pokemon through random battles. Here, you can choose to kill them in order to level up or catch them using "Pokeballs." The "Pokedex" tracks all the Pokemon you collect. The goal of the game is to reach 8 Pokemon gyms--located in every other town--defeat all the gym leaders, stop whatever evil organization is present in the game you're playing, and finally, defeat the Elite Four to become Pokemon Champion.

After completing the game, you can try to collect every Pokemon (impossible without trading), including the legendary Pokemon of the game you're playing, or play the game competitively. The meta-game actually has a significant amount of depth.

Essentially, every Pokemon game is the same thing, only with different Pokemon, so you should obviously get the latest installment (Pokemon Black/White 1 or 2) since it's undoubtedly the same shit as its predecessors, only with more content.

Edit: And get Resident Evil Revelations and/or Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance for 3DS too. <3

Wow thanks bro. Everything I needed to know.

I game hard, but I have found I really only enjoy shooting/fighting/survival games like your Ninja Gaidens, Dead Space, Halo, MK and so forth. I knew what Pokemon was, but I knew nothing about it besides Pikachu.

lol yes I only play FireRed right now cuz that's like the old pokemon games but looks better. You can even get some of the 2nd and 3rd gen pokemon in that game too I think but I haven't gotten that far yet. I despise anything after 3rd gen.

For roms I would get the N64 games too like Pokemon Snap, Stadium 1 and Stadium 2. Maybe even Colloseum and Gale of Darkness.
