Should characters have TWO MU charts? One based on general gameplay, another based on stages?

Should we?

I've been thinking about this idea for months now, but I just didn't know how it would work in the best way.

Basically, stages play a HUGE role this game, given you're a power character, acrobatic character or a gadget character. The stages favor different type of characters in the game, thus effecting certain MUs.

For Example: Killer Frost (Acrobatic) vs Zod (Power) is viewed as a 5-5 match up by both communities for the most part. But on a stage like the prison cell, Zod definitely has the advantage since the stage favors Power characters.

Also, certain tools a character has can definitely come to play in certain stages, thus effecting the MU as well.

For example: Killer Frost vs Batman is viewed as a 5-5 MU from both communities. However, Batman beats KF at least 6-4 on the Gotham Alley stage due to his Trait and the dumpster.

So due to these certain type of situations, I think its safe to say that MUs aren't really set in stone unless we really do factor in stages.

Thoughts?

I hadn't thought of this exactly but have been thinking that the stage's and their effect on the matches has more or less been neglected when it comes to charts.

Which as you already stated can play a huge role in the match depending on the characters and stage, so it would make sense imo to have a second chart. At the very least you're going to want have to some notes down on it, so why not just take the full step.

It'd be a lot of work to do every stage with every character though. Worth it??

Was it good for you?
I dont post much, but i feel like this is too much. Everyone knows intractables play a huge part but make a whole new match up chart just based on that...c'mon man.

Two matchup charts, but none based on "general gameplay" which never actually occurs.

It's simple. Evaluate the MU on the best stage for character A and character B. Express the value as a range.

For example, let's say A beats B 6-4 on rooftop, A's best stage, but goes 5-5 in Atlantis, B's best stage. Then the matchup would be between 5-5 and 6-4 depending on the stage.

for the most part its pretty obvious which stage gives a given character an advantage over another. It might be worth noting how a MU would change depending on the stage but for the most part MUs stay the same

like, its not hard to see that Sinestro has an advantage on watchtower, Batman on Alley, Raven and batgirl on Hall of justice, Doomsday on rooftop ect.

You don't need to mark down a number for each of them imo

I think it would be better to just average the numbers to get a general MU chart. Since the stage selection is for the most part done randomly, worrying too much about MU numbers per stage is only going to complicate things.

We already have a tendency to make excuses whenever we lose -"its a bad MU", "my controller/stick was faulty", "I was drunk/high", "I was trolling", "Breaking Bad just ended"- this would only add to the list of excuses to use.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think people don't blame the stages for their losses already.

I'm gonna make this skill gap... disappear.
Yeah. Let's also have one based on the players using the characters. Additionally, we should come up with more based on what character skins are being used, whether a character is 1st or 2nd player, and the weather conditions in the local area... you know, just to cover all the bases. Or maybe, just maybe, we should just play the god damn game. ;)

No, especially with the latest interactable nerfs in the last patch I think it is up to each char community to level up on each stage. No sense in having multiple charts IMO. My opinion in some of the previous game revisions that we should have been banning some of these stages...
