I noticed several characters have official or unofficial video threads, so I figured I'd make an unofficial one for Sheeva:).

These are from Blake's stream, I had two matches with Sheeva out of all of them and I did the best with her..yay lol. I also played Stryker, Jade and my scrubtastic Kitana.

Those were some nice matches man, it's good to see Sheeva to get some love.

You have a really good Jade as well. (didn't see your Stryker aside from vs Smoke, which I presume is a bad MU for him)

Thank you man, very much appreciated. Somebody's gotta give her some love:). I might play her more in the future, we'll see. I usually don't play grapplers in fighting games, she's the only one I've ever been into.

Also gracias, I've been slaving away at Jade the last couple of months as I believe Sheeva, Jade, and Stryker are good enough to compete and too fun to be dropped for characters I don't like.. I'm all about playing your faves and having fun, even at tournies.

I don't think the match up is necesarily bad, I just think I played very poorly lol. It's my fault for that display and Blake just outplaying me.

Ironically, Stryker is my main, but I couldn't win once with him (I came close a couple times), but won with my secondary and my 3rd main character lol.

Sheeva used to be my secondary character, I still play her often though because she's that chick:cool:.

Yea, I'm trying to pick up Sheeva. Though you were "supposed" to not like her, (storyline) I enjoyed her loyalty.

I tried picking up Jade awhile back...no luck. But I didn't know much about any characters back then, just combos. I liked the fight with Jade, espicially since UFG said shes horrible online. (I wouldn't know)

I know how you feel, I'll lose with Liu so many times. Once I choose Reptile...I win. It might be mecause of the MU, but I know most MUs with Liu. I think the lowest tier character I occasionaly play is Baraka. But that's only against scrubs that sort've know what they're doing.

Jade is always fin to watch. :cool: (as is Sheeva)

That second round vs Sub was cool, if I recall correctly it was like 2 days ago I watched it, but you did like a b1, 2 maybe dash standing 4 into a bf3, it was really cool looking.

Really? That's awesome, I'd love to help if I can, she's a nice change of pace from as speedy as Liu Kang is, she really is a brickhouse lol. That's what made Sheeva appealing in the old games too, her honor and loyalty, despite a lot of her old story being omitted that made her great, at least they left her honor driven persona intact.

It's much more frustrating online with her, She suffers a lot from the lag, unfortunately.

That's a nice diverse cast of people you play, Liu Kang, Reptile, Baraka and (possibly) Sheeva. Maybe we just get too confident in our mains and that leads to playing less cautiously?

Thanks! I know exactly what you're talking about, the combo is 1,2,back 1, 4, grab n punch, that's my favorite Sheeva BNB, stylish and lag doesn't mess it up too bad, the timing isn't overwhelmingly strict either.

I see you use her b1 2 string, I like it too. Do you use it as a stagger reset? I go for b2 1+2 after I land one in case they'll be blocking high. You don't even have to dash in, her b2 has long range. I like her f3 b1 as well, you did it once.

:). I usually try to incorporate her fireball into back 1,2 then try to set up her forward 4 kick (that usually gets them) or forward 3, back 1. I might start incorporating back 2 though, I usually forget to bust that out after that string connects, I always think my opponent's going to jump away so I go for the first thing that's on my mind (Sheeva's field goal kick:cool:).

I hate how situational some of her moves are, particularly low grab. I'm hoping next game she has less situational specials.

Espio872 so for that 1,2,b1,4 and grab do they normally have to be jumping or on the ground or does it work as either if you get the timing right? I could just stop being a dummy and watch the video again but I'm at work.

They have to be on the ground for it to work suitable,I don't think the combo works fully if the opponent is in the air, the first 3 hits will connect, but if the 4 does hit, they'll be too far away for the command grab to hit.

Against his Baraka at 12:38 and at 14:25 (same recorded footage at 16:30, no need to watch as it's the same as 12:38).

Thanks, footsie Sheeva is marvelous :). I don't like fighting Baraka with anybody...even Kitana lol. Baraka makes my Sheeva sad, can't even mix him up with telestomp and that dang down four sigh haha.

Lexi is really solid, I wanna play him again soon.



New footage from "The Aquarium" as Friction calls it, I played a fun series with him yesterday. Seven matches of Sheeva v.s. CSZ, good stuff, very close fights.

There's a random round win with Sheeva that after the round was over she still stomps the ground lol.

Didn't see you do her 212f1 bf3 b'n'b just once instead you went for 212b1, I like that one too.
Reptile is one tough bastard for her but I'd rather fight him with Sheeva than with Sindel sometimes.
Speaking of which, your Sindel looks nice as well though I'd like to see you Iaf and Liaf though.

I remember he mentioned liking 4, gran punch better because he felt it was much more consistent, which I can agree to, consistency is more important than damage I feel, it's not a bad idea at all :D.

I also use fireball or anti-air grab any extra damage you can get with Sheeva pays in dividends :).


I'm thinking 3,3, grab in punch could be used as a whiff punisher, maybe? I haven't really tried it much, but the speed and range isn't too bad and you can get 1/4th life off of this combo.



I'd actually like to see more 2,1,2, forward 1, grab n punch this is her best string for four reasons:

Builds the most meter
Does the most chip
Leaves Sheeva at +12.
More mix up options

2,1,2, back 1 is okay because it's neutral on block, but you're sacrificing chip, meter and advantage.


1,back 2, forward 1 is a string I would avoid all together, it really gives Sheeva no benefits that her other strings don't, the properties are just not particularly applicable unless there's something to it I'm not understanding.


Also Lumpy, add in down 4 fireball in footsies, it's safe and it pushes the opponent away.

Try to mix up when you jump a bit more, try forcing a whiff and punishing according, things of that nature will help a lot.

Most of it is probably bad habits but I'm generally cautious of down 4's vs reptile with that dash I've eaten many of them. The d4 fireball might shut him down a bit better haven't really tried it taht much. The reason I do the 212b1 is for players who try and play dead, I can go in for a dash f3 into grab for 22% making it if they are blocking high, if they are blocking low vs f3 if I they don't get up fast enough I can go into a low grab for an extra 36%. Doesn't always work, but I like to play risky, keeps things interesting =)

Well my Sheeva is the one I try and focus on, I kind of explained some of my choices in my reply to Espio, like he said I find the b2 1+2 is somewhat unreliable, I prefer to get a 99% non drop-able combo for 5% less than ending up with 13% when I screw it up. her 33 is somewhat underrated, its fast has good range and hits people jumping away and even ducking unless they are really low hitbox characters. It's even stuffed reptile dashes a few times in laggy ass online. F2, b1 as well I find is not as bad as some people say, it catches some people off guard because the second hit comes pretty fast and they aren't expecting it plus it hits most ducking characters from my experience. My Sindel is a screw around character that I just stole a few things from a Sindel main I play against sometimes lol..For me it's not always about getting the most damage, it's about being unpredictable, so I can get in 3 22% combos instead of 1 40% combo, I can still end up winning.

There's a lot of her crap he can't parry.

As for dealing with her telestomp, I've stopped jumping as you can dive right under her stomp. Better to stay grounded..she has a 1/3 chance of landing a 12% move on you. You have a 2/3 chance of guessing where she'll land and hitting 11iceball.

Still, she negates a lot of his stuff like bombs. I'm not sure he can slide under her fireball either.
