Recording probblems

I got a Hauppauge 1212 capture device. Loving it so far! The only issue I've been having is that sometimes the video has the wrong length. I can play it fine, and the position indicator happily sits at the end while the video plays longer than it thinks it will.

The problem is the editing software DOES stop when the time indicator says its done. So I have a 3gb file that I can only get at the first four seconds of video.

Anyone has an easy fix for this? The file extension is m2ts, if that matters.

i have no experience with hauppauge's product because i only use avermedia. but i am going to take a wild guess, how about converting your video file to a different format? like avi, mp4, or something and hopefully the editing software can read it.
