What would be neat is if they took all the unedited footage from their captured stuff and just used the highest quality original images for everything, at like 24 fps. They would increase the frame rates and fill in the gaps everywhere. It'd change probably 50% of all collision detection slightly but it'd make everything look a lot smoother, except for LKs and HKs which for whatever reason have a frame for every tick on the way out for MKII through MKT.

why you dont work for Team MK is beyond me.

The chances of them still having all that stuff, and not having dumped the extra animation is low. It's probable that whatever digital stuff they kept is exactly what we see in the games, and maybe a handful of extra animations they didn't use. From one of the MK3 making of videos, you can see a scene where there are a bunch of Kung Lao frames on their monitor, I don't recall there being any more frames there than what's in the game, so chances are once it got to the point, that's all that was left of the capturing process, and obviously, this footage is too dithered to be useful.

But imagine, for example, just the stance animations, how it's like a frame for every 6 ticks. Imagine if those 5 duplicate frames were all unique. Each of those 5 new frames would have slightly different collision than the 5x repeats of the initial frame chance. This is something I think we could all deal with, in fact, it would enhance the game.

LoL thanks Tim

Today using the same concept, they could probably get it to like 2 ticks per frame for almost all attacks based on what they actually captured. That would make things looks really smooth and still not interfere with timing.

Warner Bros claimed copyright so all the footage was removed. bullshit! send them hatemail!

ps- did anyone copy any of these?

You guys rock for saving these vids. Between this and the making of MK2 scans, I can only wait to see what's next.

On a semi-related, slightly geekier note, someone found an MK arcade board that turned out to be prototype version 4.0. The vids were marked private, and the poster hasn't gotten back to me yet, but it'll be interesting to see the progress they were making during the games development.
