Quitality Loophole?

So let me ask this. Am I missing something? In all the matches I've played online, I've probably only had someone "Quitality" on me twice. The other 1000 times people quit on me, the moment the "Finish Him/Her" comes up, the game freezes for 10 seconds or so, then continues on and says "The game session is no longer available. The player has left the match." Is that a way to avoid the Quitality? Seems pretty worthless if you can rage quit and avoid it altogether by waiting for the Finish Him/Her. What am I missing?

How exactly are these guys quitting? Are they completely closing out the game via the PS4/XB1 main menu? Doesn't seem like there's enough time to do that because they are quitting almost immediately after the last hit. I tried to figure it out but I couldn't. The 'options' button on the PS4 does nothing during the match so it's just something else about which I'm curious.

Yeah, I noticed this happening ALOT to me too when I win- just prior to the opponent leaving the game.

Doesn't bother me too much, if anything I think it is pretty awesome that the game actually leaves the opponent there instead of stopping the match, so you still get to disembowel them.

The stutter of lag that happens as a result is very annoying though. I was all for the "peace out" option in KI where the developers suggested people should be able to quit without extra penalty to avoid a triple 100+ hit, 60 second ultra combo... but a fatality is actually only 1/3rd the length of a Killer Instinct triple ultra. I think they should just wait it out.

That Don't Impress Me Much
there's several things they can do. they can quit during a portion of the brutality or fatality before the announcer can announce brutality or for just a disconnect on ps4 all they would have to do is press the PS home button and close the application. that's what I think they are doing. but I dunno. I've only had two quitalities too. I think it only happens if they legitimately quit the match. not just disconnecting or exiting out the game. I could be wrong though.

this happens to me a LOT. I have not gotten a Quitality yet because the player leaves at the Finish Him/Fatality sequence. I'm not sure if they get a loss or not...
