Quirky, Useful Tech?

I noticed something recently. When using an arcade stick and wiggling the joystick back and forward quickly in succession causes certain characters to move slightly, sort of like kara cancel movements in SF.
For Joker it moves him back, for CW it moves her forward.
Don't know if this could be put to any tech use, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see what's up.

I'm not trying to sound rude or condescending here, but isn't this just pressing forward and backwards and your character is just moving according to plan? Doesn't sound like tech to me.

Have you tried it? The characters (Joker and Catwoman) move farther than one press of forward or back and the direction they move in doesn't match the inputs. I theorize it could be used to get into place for a cross up or other set up. Or it could be used for something not thought of yet.
