Quickest way to learn a new fighter?

So far what I do is check the Forums Guide, then I learn and practice 1-3 good combos

(any more I think is a waste of memory, just end up confusing you right?)

Then after I learn the combos and basic strategy I'll play through a ladder on medium-hard and then I'll finally start using them online. Any tips or suggestions on doing it faster?

I do the exact same thing...However something I've noticed is: While playing through the Ladder, I can force combos in situations that will never be practical against a human player.

I will say that playing the ladder does help me learn to hit confirm my strings and perfect my combo's but... In a real game situation against a human player, the setting and feel of the match will always be different.

And nothing I can suggest about it doing it faster...Just play as much as possible against human opponents.
