Props to TFC - Extremely well ran event with huge Future

Pig Of The Hut

Day 0 Phenomenal Dr. Fate and Darkseid player
I want to stop by and give massive props to SweetJohnnyCage BigE ShinBlanka Shock Mikemetroid, jonnitti all staff i ran into and spoke with and all others who helped and were in charge of not only TFC (but those guys deserve the most credit no question) but also in charge of Injustice too

This was one of the cleanest, easiest, exciting and perfectly ran events ive been to.

IMO This tournament and CEO so far this year were hands down the hallmarks of how well every tourney should run.

Props to you guys and hopes that TFC will continue to prosper and grow. Im very glad I came and witnessed it and despite getting blown up (9th) but had a great time.

I'd like to personally thank Mikemetroid, ray riazy, frantastic and DarthArma for sending me as many high profile matches as they could that didn't end up on stream. i have over 3o matches recorded in 720p. they are uploading now, some of them are already up. check out www.youtube.com/avylontv later today and i will have them all playlisted.
Definitely need to get some of those matches to John Gallagher for future event promos. I'm going to give him my videos from the twitch archive but the quality is not that good.

I've heard nothing but good things about the event from all communities. No community felt underepresented and all got the attnetion they deserved. Sure internet was iffy but that has no impact on how good an event is and people holding that against it don't know what an event is supposed to be about.

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
maybe this can pave the way for future 3/5 injustice tournament. when you start pools on time, and you cut the down time of in between pools and even run top 32 maybe for Sunday i don't see why injustice shouldn't be 3/5 by the time NEC rolls around.

Definitely the best tournament I've been too. The hype was cray, pools ran smoothly and on time, BIG ASS ROOM, etc.

I'm praying NEC will be like this.
Probably not entering anything official but if I'm at NEC we should get some matches in.

3/5 is still questionable. In order to do this we need to run at least one more pool at a time with equally as many additional setups, and have another bracket runner. This would mean 3 pools at a time for the first two, and then 2 pools at the end, run in bigger blocks, and possibly doing top 16 Sunday but since we never know the exact time we're going on, we still have to budget accordingly. If we had enough setups we could run 4 pools at a time, and queue all the stream matches but this gets extremely difficult when you have multiple game players.

If we have an 11AM start, we cannot run 16 through 8 on Sunday, if it's 3PM we can absolutely do that. An entire tournament 3/5 could be possible at NEC with the planned more setups but I have to talk to Big E about that. Another factor is top 8 stream time. 3/5 adds at least a half hour to the stream, no matter what, minimum and upwards of 90 minutes. That's a LOT to ask especially since we still draw only half the numbers of Marvel and AE. There's absolutely no way we can ask for over 2 hours of stream time and you can't drop to 2/3 for the first 5/8 of top 8.

If I can convince spooky to run 3/5 we can always do top 8 as 3/5 at the very least because it's very controlled and I think that's fair, which then would mean that at our discretion, we could also run top 16 at 3/5 which I think is more than fair. Players also need to think outside the box of their game and realize that while you want a more competitive situation, a game like Marvel has matches that end in seconds due to the completely random BS in the game. You will never see an Injustice match end in less than 30 seconds as a Clash itself is 8 seconds and the God damn victory animations are too long on top of that. There NEEDS to be a tournament mode that cuts to rematch faster and stage recycle. There's far too much waiting. I have argued with TOs that Injustice matches take way longer than they think.

Definitely the best tournament I've been too. The hype was cray, pools ran smoothly and on time, BIG ASS ROOM, etc.

NEC should be even better, as we have plans for more setups at this event. We'll see how that pans out. The room is definitely bigger than the ECT room, I don't know if it's quite as big as TFC. I'm glad you enjoyed this event and got to see how we really do things, as I know you've had quite a number of bad experiences at tournaments but have never complained.

I'm glad to hear things went well, definitely angers me my plans fell through more.

Shock I would second the 3/5 Top 8 idea like EVO did with AE this year.

Awesome. That's the way real professionals do it. I wonder though. What's the reason for doing this with a cam instead of direct feed? I'm not complaining since quality is so good you barely notice that it is recorded with a cam but I'm still interested in the reasoning.

I agree. TFC was extremely well ran and I will definitely return next year. Shouts to everyone there, the injustice tournament was stacked, easily the most competitive tourney ive ever been apart of. I was only pixels away. First time commentary for me was a highlight for me. Also, meeting all the players is always awesome.

i used an avermedia LGP to record this. i use this because you dont need a PC to recorded directly off the console. if you are interested in investing in one, you can get them here.

Thank you for the very kind words everyone. We're really really pleased with how everything turned out. We're even more pleased that you all enjoyed yourselves!

Just a quick note on the 3/5 situation. Something you guys may want to watch out for is the eventual dwindling of hype in matches. There's something special with match lengths escalating from 2/3 to 3/5 when it comes time for finals. Marvel kind of dies out in Top 4 for some reason. My theory is because it's 3/5 the entire time. There's never anything to build up to. Whereas in SF and Injustice and most other titles, having the winner/loser/grand finals be somewhat of an extended set allows for more hype to build. It also allows for bigger upsets when someone comes back from 0-2 and clutches out a 3-2 victory. Shows endurance. Just something to think about. If someone can give me time differences between 2/3 and 3/5, maybe we can work with it for ECT2014 or something.

Personally I wish more off stream and streamed matches were recorded like this, direct feed is nice but man getting cam feed is great, you get the match plus all the people int he back.
