Played some local competition at an arcade

I got to finally play some opponets at my local arcade at UMK3 (Dallas, Tx). I found out that I'm a little rusted at competitive play. The guy I played was ok. I was playing like crap.

In the first match his Nightwolf beat my Classic Sub. He was playing kinda funny like swinging his shoulder my way when he was doing hatchets. BTW thats the first time my Classic Sub lost

Second matchup was my Reptile v Ermac. At least he wasn't swinging his shoulder this time. I had him a couple of times set up but couldn't get the inf going, got to the second aaHP,HP and couldn't get the second dash fast enough. His Ermac was decent, could've done a second TKS on his juggle setup.

Third match was Cyrax v Kung Lao. Apparently he either doesn't know about the Lao cross screen inf or can't recognize a good setup for it. Again a good matchup, just really rusted at competitive play. Overall there was no reason for me to lose 3 straight matches.

I live 3 hours south of Dallas. If there were any tourney in Dallas I would make the drive up but I haven't played on a cabinet since around 96 haha so I would probably play shitty. Online play is all I have played recently.

I've asked about having some kind of tourney, its at ValleyView Mall, but they keep telling me to talk to the owner, who's never there.

I'd like to do one, but really not sure who'd show up. I know of some guys that play sometimes there that are really good. And a few members here I'm sure would show- myself, Speedy, & anyone who has posted on here. Any weekend would be great to try to get a small tourney, preferablly a saturday.

I for sure wouldn't win, I'm just a little above average at UMK3. If it were MKII it'd be a different story :twisted: But I guess any competitive MK is a good thing.

Make Flyers, post it everywhere you can. You've already got enough people in this thread that will attend. Make it happen man 8)

If there were to be any kind of gathering for umk3 at the valley view, I would most definitely show up. I'm not an arcade player, but I can get around. =p I would also love to play elitebomberx because I've heard he was pretty good, and kaiba along with him. xP

I remember they did this once and then a whole year later it returned.

I hope it comes back sometime soon, and hopefully they'll repair those very horrid sticks that were on there last I played.

I just moved to south lake tahoe, and theres about 5 casinos in the area, if I get time I wanna check out the arcades....perhaps..there will be a umk machine...

I hope so. And they better repair those stick on UMK3. They were way to loose, especially player 2 side.

BTW those MVC2 machines had plenty of people playing it downstairs. They used to take the chair I used for UMK3 if I wasn't there early enough.

I thought people would take chairs normally... At least, that's what I did.. : D For any game, though.

Also, kaiba, since you liek mk2 a load, there's this mk2 machine that's just sitting in this guy's garage about 7 - 10 houses down from me.. I want to ask if he would play it, at the least, but my friend's won't stop by his house. xp They literally don't use it, so if I get lucky enough, maybe I can get it from him... o: For the price of some yard work or something, that would be kool.

Whoa thats awesome man. I had looked for one the past but always was either outbidded or the offer was just a tad bit too high. I had also thought about just buying the pcb board, wires, buttons, etc and just placing it in a generic cabinet.

BTW which area of upstairs is it suppose to be at? I had taken a walk around last week and maybe overlooked a section.

Nah man, sorry but I don't know where it's at nor have I even been there in like half a year or so. X: I just hear about it from this one dude that used to go their before they closed cyberzone the first time because he was an MvC2 player. I've been more worried about getting a job........................ for the past two or so years.................... D: Once I get a job, it's gonna be back to gaming. =O
