Pig's MLG Online Tourney - Appreciation thread

I realize there's a lot of drama going on about what happened on the PS3 side of things (and even some on the xbox side), but please keep all of that out of this thread.

This thread is for everyone to show thier appreciation and thanks to Pig Of The Hut Sonya Blake CptXecution @Hatake Osawa @pherleese for organizing and running this. They all deserve props because what happened wasn't their doing or intention.

I had a ton of fun last night playing and watching the stream. I very much appreciate the effort and hard work put into it. I could see on stream how crazy it was for Blake to do both the bracket and stream, and he pulled it off marvelously. GGS to all of my opponents as well! I would gladly particpate in something like this put on by these guys again.

This thread is meant to thank everyone. Each of you played an important part in putting this on, including you, but yes Iw this was not a one man show and you and the others are assets to this community. I feel like those of us that do appreciate the efforts everyone puts in dont say it enough though, and I just wanted to make it known.

Yeah not only was this an overall awesome experience, but:

1) People proved that even if online isn't perfect, it can still be a blast if you just accept the shortcomings, relax, and just have fun
2) I've said it already, but Blake's commentating of his own matches was absolutely hillarious, and is worth watching the replay for if you missed it.
3) It proved that people can play characters online that you "can't play online"
4) Baraka.

The ego's! The drama! The community! 3 things that are absolutely tainted in this scene. One reason, top players dictating what it takes to be community oriented, please just get off your ego horses. The fact that you expect people to support MLG is insane and deserve a big FU, for your greed masked behind "The community". Why dont you stop masking you true motives. Truth is if you were not a top player making the money you would not want or care if it continued. So, in the name of community, you expect players who do not feel they can make a top placing to spend hundreds of dollars traveling and lodging and donate a $50 door fee to be donated into your pockets as winnings. Why dont you egotistical people just do a donation drive monthly for the community players to give you money in your pockets on a monthly basis. MLG is not the community, TYM, MKU, The On Blast Show, are not the community. It is each person here, offline or ONLINE. When I hear people say it is the communities fault MLG drops MK, I laugh my ass off. It is MLG and the ego peoples faults. Rather than embrace the community they bash they with telling them they are trash . "If , you call me stupid everyday, dont expect me to do you a favor in your time of need, we all remember what you say. All you people really need to get off the high horse enjoy the game for what it is and the community. If you want to make money get a job, plain and simple. If you have a job, then you obviously aint happy with the $$$ so find a 2nd one.
The point of competive gaming is not the $$ as much as it is the bragging right to be the top of your game. The money was just an ADDED incentive, that is why it has never been so much. Too many people want to make a fantasy ESPORTS, well guess what it will not last. Enjoy it at the level of EVO it dont get any better. Fact!
The Ego's hate on the community is what make the community go down. Competive is greeat, ego driven assholes is bad.

I like this, my whole thing with MLG was we don't NEED it and it's nice to have but just why not enjoy while it's there? Know what I mean? If I'm a top player and I know I have a chance of winning, I'm going to MLG to try and win some more money and enjoy it while it's there. As far as the community aspect, it's something the community deserved and worked hard for but come on...we knew it would end and we need to accept that.

Im not sure who its directed at but go down the list of top players and you'll find very few name who have given back a lot of $, time, donations, etc into the scene

The ones who havent offered anything but have Mooched are easy to find

You can be damn sure I'm appreciative of this tourney. My only regret is that I couldn't participate in it, but I at least sponsored someone else, and I definitely hope there's more tournies like this in the future.

Thank you to all who made this possible and plz don't let 1 bad incident with a couple knuckleheads ruin everything.

I've said it in the other thread and I'll say it again, this tournament was a lot of fun and it took a lot of time and effort. People don't give enough recognition the the guys who make an effort to keep this community going. It's things like this tournament, Woolay, OBS, D4C, and grassroots who care enough to still show MK and this community respect. Ultra respect to pherleece and @SonyaBlake for streaming this tournament and continuously streaming MK gameplay. Blake's commentary was godlike IMO.

MLG is nice to have, but $50 for entry and we are still not being given any details about Dallas. That is what makes me not give a shit about it anymore. MLG is not what keeps this community alive, it's the top players who are constantly at each others throats, trying to one-up each other. It's all the hype, podcasts, hate for Kabal, new techs, "low tier characters" performing at the highest level. These are the things that keep me interested in Mortal Kombat and this community.

Thanks to CptXecution, Hatake Osawa and Pig Of The Hut for going through with the tournament despite TYM going down and such. I personally will be attending NEC, even if MK is confirmed for Dallas. The utter disrespect of being kept in the dark makes me not want to spend hundreds of dollars to attend.

One of my favorite moments =)

I had a lot of fun doing this! Despite being deathly ill, I was able to participate in a tournament, this is something I could have only done online! So there are benefits. It was great to finally get involved in something community related. I've never gotten to play any top players, and this was a great way to do it. It was also a great way to get our name out there in a positive way, and I thank pig, blake, cptex, and hatake for the opportunity to do so.

Gratitude of the highest order has been issued.

Even though I couldn't end up participating, I think this was a brilliant idea executed by some very awesome people. Thank you guys for bringing some positive attention to the online game. Whether I participate or not, I'll always support events like this to the best of my ability.

Awesome tournament Pig. I ended up having to go early 'cause I was tired but it was fun to play the people I did.

You would think, after getting knocked out of the only two offline tournaments I've been to by Cyrax, that I would learn the Cyrax matchup...but you'd be wrong ;)

Honestly, I think you did stellar! There isnt much you can do in that matchup man, and its a bit lame when you can just about body someone and then get hit with a net and its over. The way I play it is different than how you play it though. I usually just stay back and wait for them to teleport or throw a net. If they throw a net, I start my dagger barrage. Teleports get a 114 combo. I'll have to incorporate some of your tactics as well. I like the 44 combo you did to snuff that little anti-air leap he does. I never thought of that!

Check out my matches against mosp, they were fun until he pulled out skarlet. . . I dont know my own matchup! lol

Was it streamed? I still need to check out the stream's; i only saw part on my phone mid way until the second to last match on the ps3 side. Honestly aside from the reo thing, it seems like everyone had a good time and I didn't even hear much complaining about lag. I really hope there's something else like this. I'd be nice to have MLG put on another one, but they need to detail how it works better; by the time i knew how it was running, they closed registration :(
