Northern NJ Thread

I know there is already a NJ Thread but it seems likes it is geared more towards south Jersey.

I am from North Bergen to be exact willing to travel to NY. Looking for maybe a gathering in North New Jersey or even a travel team this way we can get the community to grow and some definite matches.

FYI I have 2 friends that are dedicated Mortal Kombat players.

I am also going to ECT to see where I stand :D

I am in verona and just built an arcade cabinet hooked up to two custom pdp sticks. Been trying to get something going in North Jersey as well. There were 3 guys off of TYM I was talking to who seemed interested in starting a North Jersey event.

I spoke to phire he apparently runs Chocolate Lemon and the 8-bit dojo in Manhattan and he said someone reached out to him to try and start an MK scene out there. I dont know how far that is from you but it is a start we can use that place to promote maybe even grow enough for tourneys. Im waiting on a response from him I'll let you know what he says.

Manhattan isn't terrible, but I was hoping for something that folks in Jersey could get to a bit easier. I guess beggers can't be choosers though. Keep me posted =D

With my hectic schedule setting something up in Jersey would be easier for me to attend. Especially if I had to head out straight from work. Is there any locations in Jersey that could be looked into? Really hope we can keep this ball rolling.

I'd be down to get together with you guys sometime. I'm close to Bergen, perfer not to go the city though. I know my friend on this board has been trying to get something going too, I'm sure he would want to join in as well.

I'm in Bergen myself. I have a cousin in Manhattan and we both are big into MK, if we can get a location I think we can really get something going around here since the interest is there. Anything I can do to help, please let me know. In the meantime I'm gonna start looking for places and such.

Ok cool thanks to everyone, I actually just bought a HD pvr to start streaming hopefully when we get situated we'll be able to perform streams and stuff to help it grow even more.

They hosted an MK tournament when it first came out. Nice place, right up the road from the garden state plaza. I'd meet up there if you guys wanted to try it out.

I mean if the group is initially small, I would be down for people playing at my place. As for cheap venues we could rent out, I could start hunting, but I am not sure how we would pay for the space or transport the gear at the moment.

Yeah that place seems sweet, I just wonder how friendly they would be about us hording the gear and setting up streams and what not. Also they close at 1000 and I know most guys who get out of work late would prefer it end around midnight.

Edit: If you guys are going to ETC, we should meet up at some point and chat about this in person too. Get to know each other a bit in RL.

You can add me to the list also, I'm working on setting up offline casuals with a couple locals I met at Gamestop, Woodland Park/Clifton area. They and I are all planning on going to ECT too.

This place seems like an option, found out about them from the CEO stream. They sponsored the eventual winner Chirs G. I have never been there i just googled their name and found the site. Seems like a nice looking place with plenty of room and late hours, open till 3am. http://localbattles.com/

Still looking for other options will post any more findings later

I tried to contact this location but no one picked up the phone. Do they have a schedule or something. Fort Lee is a bus ride away this could be good

Store Hours:

Monday-Friday 3pm-3am

Saturday 1pm-3am

Sunday 1pm-12am

Also from the info I saw on the site I think they might only have Xbox's

Yeah Fort Lee is about ten minutes away from me, and the closing time is perfect I think. I might drop by this Sunday to check the place out, but it seems like just the right spot for what we need. Need to get some pricing info and get a head count of how many people want to get down with this.
