No Region Seeding at MLG?

Continuation rule was not the problem at MLG. seeding was! 3 Houston players in the bottom bracket? Showtime vs Starcharger28 first game? Me having to eliminate Showtime so soon? West coast players eliminating themselves so soon as well like Krayzie and XBlades Cus of no seeding by region??? Silly to fly hundreds of miles just to play my training partner first round. thoughts?

there were issues like this at columbus too.

This is a much bigger issue than continuation rule.

That sucks. I think their seeding was only based on who previous attended MLG Columbus so if you were to attend the next MLG, you would probably get seeding. But yeah that totally sucks... fighting your buddies. That is sad.

Yeah but so would everyone else who attended Anaheim so there's a chance you will fight your own partner round 1. Seeding by region is way better. Most of the guys who got top 8 at Columbia were from new York so seeding that way they wouldn't play each other first round either. Now there's a chance that REO faces cdjr first round at next MLg if they sees by Anaheim results only not columbus as well. Or even worse Maxter fighting @cdjr first round. I'm sure ppl will bitch then.

I see where you're coming from. Last thing I want is to face Insuperable at Raleigh early on, let alone be on the same side of his bracket. Can anyone confirm if we can at least get this issue resolved or if talks are at least going on before the next MLG MK event?

Pretty sure that Arturo has said that they seed by favorite if anything -- it also looks like most of the top players took first-round byes; not sure if that was the players' or the TD's idea.

Any seeding has its own issues, region seeding has the potential to have detroitballin play REO first round, Tyrant vs. CDjr first round, etc... honestly I doubt that MLG would ever put in the effort to seed by both region and favorite, but keep in mind that these are the issues that a double elimination tournament is designed to mitigate.

Showtime did not register as Showtime, that was the issue.
I talked with Art about it on the stream chat, and he signed up as NINJASAURUS, that was the mistake showtime made.

because there were majority WC people there, sadly they had to fight.
You had pboard,whatshername, denzel, mit, tyrant, bone, xbladez, satsui, mosp, lethal legend, etc

Its definitely something they need to start doing, but I was hoping it would be done for Anaheim. Time to start pushing for it again so this doesnt happen in Raleigh.

Not sure if they are seeding the same way they did back in 2010 when Tekken was on the circuit, but what they did is assign everyone a point value from each event they went to. The more events you attended, the more points you could have earned to improve your seeding. Of course, the one who has the most points is the #1 seed and so forth. And it wasn't that they just seeded based on the results of the most recent event. Seeding was a culmination of points earned from all events.

I don't have access to the bracket up at the desk etc. Theres lots of things I can elaborate on when it comes to this issue but I don't have time to do it right now. I'm trying to do what I can to get them to improve things. I appreciate the community support.

Oh yeah showtime not registering under his name was a massive blowup. They do ask me to advise on seeding to seed additional players besides the previous winners at Mlg cbus, arena etc. if your game name is not on the list when I look at it it can cause some problems like in showtimes case. Sucks because I really wanted to see his reptile too

I dont see this issue being resolved unless theres someone who specifically knows the scene and community.Its obvious Art has a full plate and Im not sure if they would bring on a consultant just for seeding the brackets.

Theres alot of factors that would have to be considered. Region,Sponsor,Clan or Group affiliation,etc.Its tough cause it seems if you seed to avoid region grouping youll still run into bad early match ups of players based on skill. Definitely a job I wouldnt want lol.

actually art knew showtime was ninjasauaus since before that.. i had told him on that woolay show.. and he told showtime he seeded him but it was just luck of the draw.. but they didnt seed by region at all they told us there.. it was random blah blah..

If someone changes their MLG ID name will they still be seeded based on their previous MLG performance under a different name? (But same ID)
