Newer player requesting character advise

Hello test your might forums and injustice players greetings O/, I've recently bought injustice and have played online somewhat but find I have trouble finding the character the suits me the most. The online community at least in lobbies seams to have been very unwelcoming and aggressive at my personal character due to zoning tactics. I under stand that this community generally sees this as a frowned upon tactic as well as an indicator that one is not improving or leveling up their game. I've played dota before so this type of feed back isn't new to me and I can understand and identify the opponents frustration.

To cut to the chase, Lore wise Sinestro is my favorite character (besides batman / superman) but I'm looking for a character that excels at zoning but has a hybrid or incentive to engage in rushdown tactics on occasion such as a trait or in unfavorable match ups, such as the nightmare that the scorpion vs Sinestro/zoner match up is quite brutal. My fighting game background is the following: I've played street fighter 4 maining dhalsim and street fighter X tekken maining Dhalsim and Ken. Last time i played mortal kombat was Mk3 and trilogy where i found rain as my main character but I didn't play with a competitive mindset at the time.

Any and all advise would be welcome, I'm not sure how good sinestro's close game is since many of his combos are very minus on block and charging his trait seams much more important than capitalizing on damage. I thought of playing raven, cyborg, green arrow, ares or hawkgirl since superman is very frowned upon also.

Keepaway is not at all looked down upon by actual good players. If it works, use it.

I agree with Zoidberg747. I'd stick with Sinestro or Superman if those two fight your playstyle.

The TYM community is welcoming and will provide advice if you simply ask.

First of all, play who you wanna play don't let other people "frowning upon" your character or playstyle deter you from playing Superman or a zoning oriented character like Sinestro.

Good players understand the variety in playstyles and won't be mad, a lot of people in the rooms are pretty casual and will give you hate.

I get hate for rushing down, zoning, and everything else you can think of lol. You gotta play for yourself and what's fun for you and fits you, not for other people.

If you believe enough, -7 could be +7
There is nothing wrong with zoning, especially in this game where is seems zoning is somewhat obsolete.

MB Mace Charge doesn't count as rushing in lol.

Grundy think you handsome!
I would suggest cyborg, great zoner with good set ups. Has a het out of jail special when the opponent is close to him.

Listen guy just play who YOU want, zoning is an aspect of the game if players don't know how to react to it then they need to learn the match up better. Who cares if others frown upon your choice in the end as long as you're having a good time that's what counts. Good luck to you brotha.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
If you want to zone play whoever you like. People get upset over EVERYTHING that screws with them in fighting games. They have to learn to take the good with the bad. Its not up to you to play matchups to make them feel better. If anything play their worst matchup to allow them to learn the game better and grow as THAT is you actually trying to help them out.

That said it sounds like zoning with a mix of rushdown is your thing.

Green Arrow has that, but his zoning is relatively ass...no damage and even though you can stop folks with it momentarily it rarely leads to much and since he needs Ice arrow so desperately to get any of his real damaging combos you wont readily have his best zoning arrows loaded for that alternative zoning style you hoped to have on reserve.

IMO your best choices for hybrids are :

Batgirl: Great zoning because they cannot jump it lest they eat her teleport grab/ great pressure as most of her tools are safe on block and she can easily get in with her mobility. Fast and versatile.

Superman: Haters can hate and they will, but it shouldn't stop you from playing someone who obviously fits your description. He can pressure great with f23 breathe for huge damage and his zoning frustrates folks easily. Strong and well rounded. Not fast, not slow, but damned powerful.

Hawkgirl: Her zoning is fair, but her rushdown is phenomenal. All her zoning can be MB-ed into dash attack followups to keep pressure on and her ability to use flight cancel to stay in the air instead of fall after jumping mace throws and mace charges allows her to shut off approaches safely. On the flipside she has a 6 frame d1 which is one of the FASTEST moves in the game, an uppercut D2 that rivals Aquamans and leads to damage, all her combos and specials allow you to dash inside to start pressure, she has lows, highs, overheads and she can mix them up a lot, and her Super is one of the BEST in the game. Plus her damage output for braindead 6 hit combos is something akin to 30% plus. She can even flight cancel strings to go into a ton of options and wing evade is hard to read as it has 3 followups. Also her flight single handedly allows her to avoid most of the zoning issues in the game and her mace charge is so fast that tracking moves like many interactibles often miss as they cannot correct their flight path to keep up with her.
Fast pressure cooker with big damage. Zoning may seem slow, but its almost entirely safe as you can flight cancel to avoid recovery issues or MB it to follow it up with dash moves that put you right on top of folks and that often stuff their punish attempts on your zoning.

shaowebb has given a great analysis and everyone else is on point about playing the character/style you feel most comfortable with. Its your opponents' problem for not adapting or complaining about things. Overall people don't like to lose regardless of what tactic is used!

Deathstroke has good zoning and some very under rated close up tools. Might consider trying him.

Hold out for Noob Saibot as dlc, he is the zoning king.

But on a serious note, don't worry about online rage monsters, i personally take pride in ruining someones life for 10-15 minutes depending on how mad they are.
