New Player Project

Hey all, I was wondering if some here would mind giving me feedback or help with a Project I'm trying to put together. I've been in the MK community for all of 4 weeks now, and have had a great time getting to know how this game is played and meeting the people who have been involved with it for some time. Coming from two other games in the FGC (Soul Calibur 5 & Ultra SFIV) A place like this was just what I needed to help get me started on the right track.

A little while ago I was added to the Facebook page "Mortal Kombat Kommunity" run by a guy who goes by the handle ATL Batman. He wanted to create a page where the more serious minded members of the MK Community could go (much like this page) and share information & experiences and play the game. Now, of course there are a few things to iron out here and there, but I believe the page has done well for itself.

As a new Admin on the page, I ran an idea by him that I wanted to share with you all. Any constructive criticism, feedback or help would be greatly appreciated:

Mortal Kombat 10 is only about 5 months away and will be here before you know it. Anyone whose stuck around in a particular FG Franchise knows that when a new game launches, there is usually an influx of players into the previous Title who are trying to learn how it works. It's also known that for those lesser experienced in the FGC whether because they are new to the competitive mindset or to the Genre in general, finding information and understanding it can be difficult. Its easy to hop on YouTube and search for "Mortal Kombat Sektor combos." and find a laundry list of short combo videos (half of which are probably ineffective because of patching) and try to replicate them. But that doesn't quite do it for everyone. It's easy to memorize combos you see, but it takes studying and practice to understand Why the moves work the way they do.

My idea was to record a Podcast, or Stream some Gameplay of MK9. I want to bring on someone who is a well known Player, a Competitive one, or preferably a Tournament attending player to give a breakdown on a selected character. Going over things such as, best normals, bread & butter combos, frame data, play style, good match ups, bad match ups, etc, maybe throw on an advanced combo or 2. The goal is for the casual or new player to get the best possible up to date information for a character explained in a casual setting.

I know some may tell me this is a waste of time, and that "this game is dead, go play Injustice." But if I can at least help a few people out in learning MK for the eventual new release then it would be worth it for me. So if anyone has any constructive thoughts or feedback, or even would like to be apart of the project, or know someone who wouldn't mind giving some of their time to assist. I, ATL Batman and the MKK page would appreciate it.

Your idea is great. However, this has already been done. Plus people create video guides for people who need help with bnb's, footsie tools, tools in general, and etc.

I like the idea, it could be difficult to cover every character, and it really depends on just how extensively you want the characters broken down. but id contribute if you decide to go through with it

I would love to see something like "Morning Bread and Butter" a series that was done for Tekken.

The closest thing we had for Injustice was Kryptonite Academy, which unfortunately ceased to happen.

honestly IMO there's so much info sources about all the characters all over the internet now for MK9 that this really wouldn't be worth the effort with MKX SOOO close now, it's a nice idea but personally I'd just grit my teeth and wait for MKX, grind out the learning experience and share your findings and tech, talk about how the game evolves from it's release and (inevitable) patches.

Stay frosty brah.

For sure. I've been looking at everything out there. Was hard to find current tech. A lot of the video tutorials I found on YouTube were a few years old. But I am exploring the possibility of doing it for MKX.
