Never played Dark Souls and just got DS2, what should i expect?

Just got Dark Souls 2 and before I start I just wanted to ask what should i expect (other than dying a lot ).
Are there certain stats that are most impotant in DS2?

Also wondering if there are things I shouldn't care about for instance like a kind of weapon that sucks or be on the look out for certain things that are good. I would also like to know what attributes in armor are good for different kind of characters like a knight, swordsmen, etc.

DO NOT WASTE HUMAN EFFIGYS. Use them wisely. There will come a point where you may run out of ways to acquire some until you advance to the next level.

Just dont look up strategy guides or videos. Level up however u think will benefit you the most (if u want weaps or spells etc) go deprived its plenty fun ;p

Level adaptability to 15 then vigor to 40 ASAP. Always use a shield first and make it a habit to circle enemies so they whiff attacks.

Real talk, Dark Souls 1 had useless stats, 2 doesn't. What kind of character you doing (mage, warrior, faith user, hybrid?) and pay attention to weapon scaling (in weapon description, you'll see like the symbol for strength then an A another will have a B in the symbol for dexerity etc. Higher letters-more benefits from having that stat higher
