NBA JAM: On Fire Edition to be released this Fall (XBLA and PSN)!

Surprised no one beat me to posting this little story...so here it goes.

NBA Jam 2010 is a game that draws some (deservedly) mixed emotions on this site. I personally dug it...even despite it's slowed gameplay and finicky online match-making. Regardless, it looks as EA is prepping an updated release of JAM 2010 entitled NBA JAM:On Fire Edition. With roster updates and improved AI (supposedly borrowing from EA's Fight Night series...so...the AI is going to throw haymakers!?!?), On Fire looks to improve upon some of the common criticisms leveed at the fledgling reboot.

All that sounds like wise decisions to the game...but the most assuring news I pulled from link is the fact that this updated JAM will be a downloadable title from either XBLA or PSN. Fifty bucks was a bit steep for the retail release last October...a 15 buck version on PSN/XBLA is a much much sweet sell.

In other words - "NBA Jam didn't sell enough to make up for cancelling Elite, so now we'll offer a souped up version for the price we should have had on the first one." As much as I was wrong about the new NBA Jam being a bad game, there's no way I'm picking this up unless EA makes it a free add-on for the people who got wallet raped on the original.

As cool as it would be...I doubt EA will include the new features as free update. Best hope would be for a paid add-on for five or so USD.

unless it gets faster and you can push jump shooters, it wont matter.
My wishes too, man. NBA JAM 2010 felt slow and the push was never useful. We can hope for these game changes...but I wouldn't be surprised if this title is just the JAM 2010 engine verbatim with minor tweaks to the AI.

Depending on how much it costs I'll probably get it. I was hyped for the first one, just not hyped enough to pay for a standalone disc. NBA Jam is a great game, but lets face it, its a 15$-20$ game this day in age like all the other games they reskinned.
Smart money is on 10-15 dollar range.

NBA JAM 2010...was OOOKKKK. Something about it didnt make me need to play it, like the old school versions.

hopefully this new edition will.......

but i still agree with Terry's post from April. it should be a free entire download for anyone who bought the game last year. period.
