A tier list I made up after playing Online for the last 3 months and watching competitions like "NEC 2011" and "Socal Regionals 2011"

Problem X Promotions
Got some questions:

What makes any of your B tier characters any better than your entire C tier? Same for A tier

And Cyrax being 2 tiers apart depending on costume 1 or 2?

Baraka and Freddy bottom tier? But they both have some of the best frame traps in the game.

I play alot of Cyrax...so I can tell u that Human Cyrax plays somewhat different, he's not nearly as good as the other...as for Baraka...I dont see alot of him at competitions nor Online. So I made him Bottom Tier because of the lack of play he gets.

B and C tier are mainly decided on who I see being played the most.

That doesn't mean tht the character us in tht tier. Tier lists are based on tournament placements for each character and # of good,eve, and bad matchups

Well I'm open for oppinions and what other players think (thats why I made this thread) I wanna know what u guys think so it could help me as a player

well if u wanted to knw who top 5 were in mk9 m2dave made a community project asking the top 30 mk9 players for their opinions on who the 5 best characters are.

A tier list cant be decided by who you see being played the most. Baraka isnt a very popular character but he is definitely capable of competing, and I would go so far as to say he COULD win a major.

Human Cyrax having a safe and INVINCIBLE teleport surely makes him better than robo Cyrax.

It doesnt matter that your list was made from watching tournaments and online play, it does matter how you take in what you're seeing though.

You forgot Kano hahahaha

And Hito Tier lists are made by comparing each character with all of their tools maximized. So tourney placements have nothing to do with it, it is more about frame data and character tools than players using the character.

I agree and I think this is why m2dave's project means nothing as well. Even some of the players who submitted a top 5 have changed their minds in like a week. Another example is Raiden. I feel like we've been basing things too much on how well Bw1zz does, and PL shows that the character can be taken even further.

We honestly don't have enough high level players to determine these kinds of things, IMO. I just want like, a general list of "these chars are good", "these chars are kinda good", and "these chars aren't so good".

Sorry for complaining but can someone explain to me exactly why tier lists matter? A matchup chart serves a purpose, tier lists just result in constant bickering, disagreements, and flip-flopping over time.
