In celebration of MK9, I decided to drop something kinda cool.
Sup? I know I don't really come here anymore, but I like to make little cameo appearances every now and then to let the people know I still love them. Hope everyone is doing good.
When I was 15, I had no high speed internet and was at the peak of my love for the Mortal Kombat franchise. I'd spend hours reading up on the mythology, watching the movies countless times, hosting MK trivia sessions and, of course, playing the games.
Another thing I took great joy in doing was coming up with ideas for how to make MK games better from a GAMEPLAY perspective. When I was a kid, I truly believed that Ed Boon and family would get it together. I believed that their staff were actively reading the forums and seeing what their fans wanted.
So with that mentality, I came up with a few ideas for what my perfect Mortal Kombat game would play like. To exemplify that, I created move lists for a few characters as well as general breakdown of the gameplay mechanics.
Yesterday out of excitement for MK9's release in a little over a month, I hunted through the MKO archives and found my posts. Sadly, the 2 creations I was most proud of(Scorpion and Sub-Zero's movelists), were more than likely lost with my old computer. Still, I've manged to track down most of the ones I worked on.
One thing I want you guys to keep in mind is that I was barely 15 years old when I created these. My knowledge of proper fighting game mechanics weren't that great, so please understand that most of the frame data and balancing ideas I came up with were absolutely laughable. However, I hope you guys can enjoy the creativity spawned by the extreme passion I had for the series. I love some of these ideas so much to this day that I may find a way to incorporate some of them into the book series I am working on.
So, I present....
Mortal Kombat Versa
LOL. The primary inspirations for my ideas were Tekken, Bloody Roar, Soul Calibur, and of course.....MORTAL KOMBATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
Below, I skipped to the good part in the assumption that you guys already know about basic stuff such as tracking, sidestepping, backdashing, etc. Keep in mind that the damage for these moves are in relation to the life bar of each character being 250 points.

Aggressor - Originally from Mortal Kombat Trilogy, but I am putting my own little twist into it. Every character would have an aggressor with a different look to them and different effects. These aggressors can be activated whenever you earn them through smart play(good defense, smart offense and doing damage to the opponent). Once you earn aggressor bar you do not lose it till it is activated and the aggressor can only be used once per match. Your opponent cannot attack you during your aggressor activation.
~Hand To Hand~
*Types*
All Around - A nice decent mix of everything in both offensive and defensive characters. Nothing over powering but nothing extremely lacking.
Offensive - Characters with the purest and best all around offensive move sets. They also have excellent movement to help add on pressure and give them new offensive weapons. These characters lack any truly good defensive options, however.
Defensive - The most defensively sound of the cast. Has the best parries and reversals that lead to the biggest damage. They also have the best defensive movement. However, these characters lack any extremely deadly offensive techniques.
Technical - These characters have the best move properties and the most damaging and hard to escape throws that leave them in good positioning afterwards. They have decent pokes and good movement, but their movement normally excells in one particular category(offense or defense) and normally lacks in the other. They also also either lack parries or reversals depending on the character.
~Weapon~
*Types*
All Around - Weapons of medium size with decent range, power, priority, throws and everything else.
Force - Weapons that do massive amounts of damage in a short amount of time. Great move properties, good defensive options and great counter hit options. Characters who wield these weapons also have the most damaging throws. However, they lack any good pokes to maintain a solid offense.
Grace - Weapons that can rack up damage quickly with amazing priority and safe pokes. These characters have great change ups and decent throws. However, they lack for the most part any good defensive options and have poor range.
