I found this today, I havent been able to read the original article just this bit from ComicBookMovie.com but it says that Warner Brothers is in talks with the writer Oren Uziel to write the script for a a new MK film.

We did talk about this previously when WB were in the process of taking over Midway. Do you reckon it will actually happen?

Hmmm, I wouldn't think this is impossible. They're already in production of MK9, hell they may even make the movie more similar to the new games storyline?

Why wouldn't you think its possible? The film and the game are completely seperate entities, I'd be suprised if the making of MK9 stalls the movie.
It seems like they have managed to get over the hurdle to do with the lawsuit and rights etc over the first movie.

True but it really wouldn't surprise me if they've already finished production on mk9 and now are just working on the online/networking part.

MK9 is rumored to come out by Christmas 2010 (wikipedia.) What's going on with the movie? Last I read WB hired Oren Uziel to write the script.

Yea I haven't read anything new since end of Jan. We haven't heard anything in a while either on MK9 so it seems like the whole franchise has gone super slow.
