Montreal Mayhem #5: We Still Exist! KRYS wins IGAU!

CanadianBaconX

Let's see how long this lasts...
Montreal Mayhem #5

So after a major choke week last week, we had set out sights on this week to be the biggest MM we've had yet. The plans were set and people were said to be returning... However not all of it went the way it had planned to. #JuiceBarEffect was still in effect as the @Jer wasn't able to show which put a damper on our ability to stream. @hard_goodbye was sadly taken away due to some last second obligations. @Mortal Komhat 'Kevin Nash'd' his ankle.

Add in a local anime convention and it makes sense we were missing people, despite all this we still had a good 7 man turn out.

Also before explaining the event shout-outs to @KRYS9984 for DAT LOGO!

Injustice
Injustice started off with @Ecodus beating @xQUANTUMx 3 - 0 once again showing that his Catwoman could deal with the #KryptonianLaserShow. KRYS and @T.roll fought next, KRYS Batman looking great as always taking on both Troll's MMH and Harley to win the match 3 - 1. The final match of the first round and the closest one was @CanadianBaconX versus @Chuckychuck. Bacon's WoWo took an early 2 - 1 lead in the set however, Chuck's improved Deathstroke showed that he knew all of Bacon's moves allowing him to run the set back and win it 3 - 2.

In winners there wasn't much for surprises. KRYS took down Ecodus while Chuck and @Darkbloom had a Deathstroke... Off? (Ewwww) that Chuck was able to take 3 - 0. Which then lead to another 3 - 0 between KRYS and Chuck, sending KRYS to Grand Finals.

For the Losers Bracket, we had Quantum and Troll face off in a match up we seem pretty much every week. However this time Troll was too concerned with wanting to play KoF causing him to get eliminated 3 - 0. Quantum then moved on to face Dark Bloom which then caused another 3 - 0, ending the run of the returning Deathstroke player. As this was happening Bacon and Ecodus faced off and for the first time in MM history Bacon was able to get the win in a very close set 3 - 2. Bacon and Quantum then faced off for a spot in Loser's Finals. Bacon got off to a 2 - 0 lead but, Quantum came back to tie it up however after a mass of jump ins and B2s Bacon was able to close it out and move onto Losers Finals to face Chuck's Deathstroke in a rematch from the first round. In another close set, it went 3 - 2 again this time Bacon's Wowo taking the win perhaps having learned from their earlier match.

The grand finals was set as Krys vs Bacon, however it didn't take long for Krys to sweep out Bacon with a 3 - 0, thanks to a plethora of batarangs and smart spacing, winning another Montreal Mayhem.

1) Krys (Batman) [7 Points]
2) Bacon (Wonder Woman) [4 Points]
3) Chuck (Deathstroke) [1 Point]
4) Quantum (Superman)
5) Ecodus (Catwoman)
5) Dark Bloom (Deathstroke)
7) Troll (Martian Manhunter, Harley)

Mortal Kombat
Unfortuantly the majority of people had to bounce when MK came around so, we made the decision to not run the MK RanBat this week. In stead we just played Casual and Tag...

And Mortal Kombat Deception! THE HAMMER!!! IT'S DOOMSDAY JUST THERE ON THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE!!!

King of Fighters XIII
Bacon and Hatman brought KoF last week and had a lot of fun with it, so Bacon brought it again this week and surprisingly got a lot of interest in it. We're not sure if this will actually be a third game or not but, there is definite interest in this game...

Conclusion
As mentioned, unfortunately more set backs are preventing a stream again. We are working on another way to get a stream so that when the event happens we have a back up in case something happens again.

If you'd like to catch the archived we have it on a Montreal Mayhem youtube channel, however they are all bunched together and not properly labelled or explained. I planned on doing something to fix that but, then things got in the way. Either way check out the playlist here.

Remember this happens every Sunday at the Foonzo Gaming Bar on 1245 Rue Drummond usually starting around 5:30 to 6 PM. We now have a stream at http://www.twitch.tv/montreal_mayhem so if you have time to check us out on Sunday please do! Additionally, if you're in the Montreal area, might as well drop by and help grow this local NRS community.

Great write up as usual @CanadianBaconX.

First and foremost, the logo came out very well but I can't take sole credit for it; @Chuckychuck played an integral role in the process and without his photo editing knowledge, it wouldn't have came out the same.

Next, there were lots of excellent matches at this weeks Montreal Mayhem; the sets ending in 3 - 2 sets were really close and entertaining. Good games everyone!

Mortal Kombat X.....Ray tag way incredibly fun and the Doomsday Hammer of Mortal Kombat: Deception should be considered an insta-win (if you got your hands on it).

The next Montreal Mayhem will (most likely) be streamed on twitchtv; follow us at http://www.twitch.tv/montreal_mayhem and you'll be notified when we go live (usually Sundays around 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm).

Thanks to everyone at MM and TYM for supporting the scene!
