Would love to see Liu return neutral. He's not dead, he's just out cold.
He can return scarred and burned. And wears a hoodie like his Legacy's and Jin Kazama's T4 look.
Shinnok probably would steal Liu's body and bring him back not as a zombie. He blinds him with false memories of Raiden failing to protect Earthrealm. But Liu still has good feelings for his friends fallen and alive.
As for Kitana... would you all want to see her return undead or alive? Cause what if she ends up a BoS slave of Quan Chi, and Jerrod (within Ermac) tries to save his daughter and wife. Perhaps the good within Kitana can telepathically talk with Liu in his mind.
