mk9 low tier characters you may didn't know did good against a top tier

Evil_Riu48

Kombatant
this is a list of low to mid tier characters which you may didn't know do good against a top tier character.
they may don't win the matchup but they are a good choice if you feel your character don't have much of a chance

1) scorpion vs kenshi
scorpion has nothing to fear against the character destroyer. kenshi has to be very careful with the way he uses his spacials against scorpion not only because scorpion can teleport mid air but because of ex spear and hell fire. scorpion is one of the very few characters that can punish kenshi spirit charge on wiff.

2) baraka vs kung lao
yes i know wtf baraka? if their is a character in this game who just don't have to deal with bird lao that is baraka... baraka spin has so many active frames that no matter what kung lao does after f-jump the spin will punish it. and not only baraka has the fastest moving projectile but he elso has the highest standing projectile attack in the game making it harder for kung lao to counter his projectiles with a teleport... baraka wins the projectile war as well even with his much slower recovery in his projectile do to he been able to punish a hat from full screen on reaction with his ex blade charge to take a life lead and his ability to check kung with blade charge at full blade charge range ... so why baraka doesn't win this matchup ? you can answer with one word "damage" baraka does not have good way to do and set-up good damage against kung lao

3) quan chi vs kabal
i wont say much but trade advantage against kabal zoning and run trap for a life lead... oh and did i mention the super low hit box quan chi has ? not a winning matchup but he does much better than 90% of the cast

4) noob vs kenshi
the shadow king the most underrated character in the game against the zoning king in a war to control space... kenshi will beat nood at full range all day long but at mid range just out of spirit charge range is where noob games shines.. it is hard to block on reactions noobs 50/50 from mid range forcing kenshi to try to use his armor to take the advantage against nood but noob comes with a secret weapon and that is his standing 2 which look very similar to his 50/50 game on start up but recovers fast enough to block any of kenshi's armor move ...because of this the kenshi player will find himself trying to predict a shadow to f jump and punish it or runing away trying to keep noob out of his sweet distance to do not have to deal with a 50/50 every other time. there is not a match in mk9 in wich spacing is more or as important as in the noob vs kenshi matchup

rain vs sonya
as dominant as sonya's d4xms is and her ex cw rain has no need to fear because he brings what could be the best armor in the game to the table since he can cancel his ex round house and keep the armor for the entire duraction of the dash... however his universal tools are not the only thing that allow rain to face the madness that sonya brings is how well all of his speacials move work against her... lightning works great against her and aqua splash works good as well to keep her out when you need but since rain has a mix up and very scary armor of his own as well he has nothing to fear when she gets close.

6) nightwolf vs kenshi eff/
it is incredible how a character as dominant as kenshi has not 1 or 2 but 3 so call low tier chaBhutanracters that make him break more than just a sweat...
the reason why nightwolf does well against kenshi is because he limites kenshi's movility... as a kenshi player it is hard to buff a spirit charge and create space between you and nightwolf because of ff4... however the reason why nightwolf is a threat to kenshi is the combination of ff4 and ex lightning... nightwolf does not need to try to get in on kenshi

From my experience, Jade does well against Cyrax. The only thing stopping it from being a 5-5 is Cyrax's damage output and Jade's lack of.

Hmm now that I think of it, Cyrax does have a command grab which is gdlk. Maybe I'm talking ass...but I think she does well against Cyrax regardlessly.

Admittedly I've never really played the Nightwolf/Kenshi matchup extensively but I've never really felt there's anything that makes Kenshi tread carefully. The consequences of trading with lighting are negligible. At least with Scorpion you have to be wary about knocking him out of his recovery frames after a hellfire to avoid giving him a free 2nd hellfire while you're still burning. Who knows, maybe there's something else I'm not seeing and I've been sold a bill by the 'peer pressure' matchup number chart.

As for the thread as a whole, at the end of the day, different styles will always make for different fights.

Jade vs. Cyrax is fun as hell
Stop playing shitty nets+bombs-only Cyrax players. A good Cyrax will hit Jade like an 18-wheeler in close quarters.

This MU always was considered "only" 6-4 for Kenshi.

This is one is a bit tricky but Kenshi almost always has an advantage. Full screen is fine for him and at mid range Kenshi player always gonna go for SC range which puts Noob into a guessing roller coaster. Also Kenshi wreck Noob in the corner (where they eventually gonna get or rather quickly on shorter stages). Everything Noob does is a risk in this MU and Kenshi player is almost always safe, risk / reward is highly in Kenshi player fav. Imo this is 3,5 - 6,5 for Kenshi.

No idea what are you talking about. EX lightning is like borderline useless and Kenshi destroys Nightwolf from fullscreen like its a walk in the park. In fact he owns him almost on any distance. ff4 is a little threat but Kenshi has options in any situations while Nightwolf takes risks all the time. This is a hard 3-7 for Kenshi.

i knew you would dissagree in the nw vs kenshi based on your experience... how was you experience with noob ?
6-4 Kenshi

I agree w what you wrote. Although where you said Kenshi wins full screen I would argue that playing the MU like I would Freddy is identical

Use meter to Bully him into the corner and use meter to gain space advantage and when Kenshi has noob in the corner it's goodbye noob. I never like playing this MU full screen unless I have a life lead then I'll trade all day and use meter to win trades . But again I've found using meter to bully space position and into the corner then staying outside up shadow range and just going to town is best
