MK9 in the MLG circuit

So recently, we all know that MLG ran an MK9 tournament. The CEO of MLG said that he wanted to start bringing fighting games to the MLG circuit. He mentioned MK and Tekken, but said he mainly wanted SSF4 and possibly Marvel. He said SSF4 is the most skill based game, and you can't just by getting your opponent into a couple combos to win. However, he said he also wanted SSF5 because he felt that the SF community is larger and stronger than any other community. Just wanted to let you guys know of this if you didn't already and hear some thoughts about it. Personally I think it would be awesome if they had AE and UMvC3 as circuit games.

I have mixed feelings on fighting games being in MLG, it open up a lot opportunities. Maybe the addition of tournaments around the country, but I'm not sure if they would be considered majors or not. It would be really cool to see if they would have the same commentators as in some other fighting game majors, and how they would stream it. '
Also.. where the hell was the MLG MK9 tourny?

It was shortly after EVO... and REO won it without losing a match.

edit: I forgot to add that if it makes more tourney opportunities available ... especially in areas off of coasts. God bless if they would have some more tourneys in Nashville or Lexington or St. Louis.... Those are affordable areas that I could attend.

Uhm...doesn't MLG run it's circuit online-based? I mean, it's all good in FPS games, but in FGs I don't think it's that good of an idea.

I was a part of the Raleigh(sp?) online qualifier. Played some really good people and it definitely leveled me up (as much as online can) I wish they could do it again because I do so many things better than I did those few months ago and though I performed decently I think I could do better. That said it wasn't incredibly organized. I got screwed out of a win because the guy reported himself as winning when I did, and when the playoff happened there wasn't much notification about it at all.

Then again I'm a Sub main so there's the chance I could do worse :dance:

the biggest thing that i hate about MK coming to MLG, is that the game is now INFESTED with MLG tards. There is no in game mute function so i am stuck listening to "Pussy stop trapping me in the Corner," "SPAM SPAM SPAM THOSE COMBOS! scrub." However when they win you're the biggest n00b to ever walk the Earth but god forbid if THEY lost, here's the list of all the reasons that i can think of off the top of my head that are the "only reason i won" I played Sub, i played noob, i played kano, i was hacking the game, i was using a lag switch, i need to get some sun, i must be a virgin (lol), i must be crazy fat, i spam too many combos, i spam too many projectiles, i trapped them in the "impossible to get out of" corner, etc. While it's great MK is getting more attention, the MLG community is the reason i laugh at everybody who claims to be "MLG," and unless the MLG mentality changes, i don't want fighting games to go near that scene

Completely agree. I can't stand some of the MLG community, FPS specifically, and their maturity level. Especially people that don't know anything about fighting games. Every move is considered cheap, or OP, or any character you win with.

Honestly, I'd like if this were to happen. More people coming to represent the FGC and more accessible tourney locations.
