MK9 Abandoned

Is there any reason MK9 was kinda "abandoned" in the sense that we got very little DLC and the patches ended around the same time. Not saying the game isn't complete and awesome, was just under the impression we would continue to receive improvements for at LEAST, a year after the game has been out.

NRS probably had other plans for that, seeing that 4 DLC characters were released in less than 5 months. Although many say there is a rumor going on about a final hotfix somewhere in the future (lets hope they dont do the same mistake and release it close to EVO again). They are probably saving any other character for a future MK game.

For what it's worth, this doesn't really count as "abandoned" or "very little DLC" in the context of this Genre. The amount of patches/updates is unheard of for MK, even if it did come in a short period of time, and 4 characters is a good amount of DLC (MVC3 for example had 2 characters.).

Other games in this genre have updated with newer versions of their games - BlazBlue has had 3 versions of its second game, which was basically just an updated version of the first game, Street Fighter 4 has had SSF4, SSF4AE, and SSF4AE2012 (Doesn't really count), and Marvel has had Ultimate Marvel. But well....most people here kind of think such updates are really really lame....and money-grubbing.

All in all, this wasn't really being abandoned.

did nobody read the link where Tim Shafer (a game developer) reveal that patches cost around 40k each from sony and xbl respectively?

It sounds pretty plausible considering patches tend to take usually 2weeks-1month to pass certification.

Nah man, just from the development side they're probably done. The game is gaining momentum especially since being included in MLG Columbus and now passing the test and moving onto Anaheim. The game will be as big as we can make it. After seeing how the rest of my fighting game group treats MK, I think there is a very definitive line between the players that like this game.
