MK Cabinet specs, (size demensions, angles etc)

Im trying to build a replicant of the original mortal kombat, but i want to make it all to 70% scale(and legal) but i cant find the specs for the cabinet ANYwhere. i found this site and im loving it so far (love the match vids)
I figured out a way to make the game work like an arcade on freeplay without using roms so its legal and ive finished all the technical stuff. now i have to build the cabinet. Ive built arcade cabinets before but never one to scale.

yall know the one from this pic

Anyone that actually owns one or KNOWS please post any measurements you have here for me. I can use all the references i can get.

i Cant wait to finish it and post pics. I hope this thread is in the right catagory

When I was younger I was going to try this. I could not find the specs either. What I ended up doing was, going to the arcade and measuring the machine myself.

If you have not yet started on the cabinet yet. I recommend buying a used machine, they don't sell for to much these days. You might be better off buying one and restoring it.

If you make a custom replica that's awesome and I'll look forward to seeing it.

Yeah just buy an old cabinet and measure it.
Then just throw it out and adjust the measurements to 70% and build a new one.

well looks like i may have to go search out tome of the arcadesand measure it myself also. I thought about restoring an old one but ive already budgeted the cost of building the new one and total cost for EVERYTHING is about $230
I like buildin things myself and i doubt i can find one and then restore it for less than $250

well thanx guys

I saw a site a long time ago that had all the specs for cabinets, but I don't think even they had MK.

Cool thing about your project is you can build it anyway that you want to build it.

Everything $230? Wood, fiberglass, screws, glue, joysticks buttons, paint, MK decals, panel overlay, MK marquee, light bulb , T molding, wiring and electronics, coin door and components, monitor (I figure this would be the most expensive thing), MK pcb board, est. That's about everything I could think of.

I'd factor in the man hours and cost of the tools you need to make it also :).

I could see you making it for around $250. But, what kind of monitor do you have for it?

This makes me want to buy an old MK machine and restore it :). I currently own a nice Capcom Cabinet.

$250 is my budget limit but my goal is $230 and I am on track with it.

Im using a truflat TV as a monitor but i usually use monitors from this PC Store down the street. they have PC monitors new and used CRTs from $15-$45 (average price is $35 ALL 17"-19") so i get my monitors from there usually (great place when i need like 3/4 monitors XD)

wont need MK decals -> getting marguee photo printed along with panel overlay.

may not use a coin door as it will only allow free play. (so the extra money for a coin door would only b cosmetic i am lookin for a cheap used one for authenticity)

tools and manpower i have tools and the freetime bc my girlfriend is helping me so its kinda something we can do together XD (fun hobby)

I want a CPS-2 machine but i worry about the suicide battery and matinence costs. i currently have a nice MAME cabinent.

Haha awesome man. If i find any machine specs, I'll be sure to post them. You should post some pics of the build stages so we can see how it comes together. Anyway good luck! :)

Of all the things I can think of to do with a girlfriend, buliding an MK cabinet is not one of them....

But good luck to you, let us know how it's turning out!
