With all of the discussion surrounding the new Xbox One an article over at Polygon might turn your head, especially if you are a long-time fan of Killer Instinct. While nothing is concrete, when Polygon asked Microsoft Studios Vice President, Phil Spencer about franchises like "Killer Instinct" he said the developers 'historic IP' may make an appearance at E3.

Considering it's been many years since Killer Instinct II and fans have been dying to play a new Killer Instinct... could their dreams come true at E3? (June 11-13, 2013)

When we asked Spencer what Rare was up to and whether Microsoft was looking at franchises like Perfect Dark and Killer Instinct for Xbox One, he said that developer's "historic IP" may make an appearance at E3.

"Fans of Rare and Rare IP I think will be pleased with what we're going to show at E3," Spencer said. "We had a limited amount of time today and a lot of story to tell. But Rare remains an incredibly important part of our development capability.

"That historic IP that they've built I think can play a real important role on Xbox One."

Since when has Killer Instinct been considered a historic IP?

If it's Rare, I fully expect a brand new Perfect Dark since that game is legendary.

LEGEND

YES!
wouldn't be surprised if it was another butchered Banjo-Kazooie

though i'm hopeful its Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark or Killer Instinct

I honestly think this time it might really be Killer Instincts guys....

Facts:
1. We know the copyright for Killer Instincts was restored by Rare months ago.

2. Rare said in a past interview that they've been dying to make a new Killer Instincts but Microsoft only hired them so they could appeal to younger audiences with games like Banjo Kazooie so they never got the opportunity to make a new KI.

3. E3 WOULD be the place to show off that they are in development of a new Killer Instincts because like I said before, they just recently got the copyright back.

4. It could only be either Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, or Killer Instincts. And Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark have had sequels already for the current gen consoles.

Hmmm.....
Would be really cool. But lets be honest here.... KI was fun, but in this age of fighting games does Rare really have the experience in making a fighting game with proper frame data, mechanics, and balanced gameplay for people who actually care about fighting games? I'm an optimist and even I don't see them knocking it out of the park if it is a new Killer Instincts.

I am a huge Killer Instinct fan and played the series religiously along with Mortal Kombat throughout the 90's. I have been eagerly waiting a reboot and if the rumors are true, I would jump ship to Microsoft.

I like this guy. He knows what he is talking about. Seriously Rare messed up too many times to be relevant.
Exactly, I'm one of the few people left who support the motto "FUCK Street Fighter!"

But really, another fighting game will make this "MK" community already confusing it as it is. Half of this place is Injustice, other half is MK, yknow?

True. Especialy because most people are tearing over the patches in injustice. This place is so negative right now.
