Looking to get into MK seriously, help!

Hey guys,

What's up? I'm Albator356 from Costa Rica. I am a longtime Soul Calibur/Tekken player looking to get seriously into MKX (the attendance for tournaments is simply much bigger for MK here u.u)

Are there any threads for terminology, things a n00b should be aware of, a general tips thread for competitive play, etc? I'm starting with Takeda but Jacqui and Reptile are looking pretty interesting too.

Also, are there any tiers defined yet in this game or is it just too early? I've seen huge combos for everyone but I'm not sure how does that translate into competitive metagame and tier ranking.

Anyway, thanks folks! :)

Hey Albator,

Although they're different games, you could check these forums:
http://testyourmight.com/forums/gameplay-topics.348/
http://testyourmight.com/forums/mk9-strategy-zone.190/

as they have plenty of discussions about the thought process of playing NRS fighting games. Watching lots of footage will probably be the biggest help, as you'll see things that are a lot harder to explain in words.

Since it's still early, there's not a ton of overall strategy stuff yet for MKX, but you can glean little bits of it by lurking the individual character forums and seeing what people are up to.

There's a breakdown in the Takeda forums already and a ton of combos, so there should be enough to give you a start.

Welcome to TYM, and best of luck :D
