First off let me say GGs to everyone I saw play last Saturday at the Minneapolis Comicade Event. I think we have the makings to be a solid squad if we can get some more offline practice in. Some of us play a lot online, others play offline but only against a couple people (ryan and brent, adam and joe). I know I could really benefit from more opportunities to get together with anyone in the area that would be interested in leveling up.
Time to Level Up!!! (Minnesota)
Some of the guys were talking on Saturday about getting more offline experience between the monthlies at the comic shop, so here we go. (I'm posting this on the MN MK facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/groups/284629114905249/)
I'm planning to do a Saturday or Friday casual event in about two weeks. Fridays or Saturdays work for me, anyone that wants to chime in let me know. My plan is to reserve my party room at my apartment in St. Louis Park, then get people to play MK. I've got one Asus and Xbox setup, and we can try to gather more equipment if people are interested. I think it would be awesome to do an hour of casuals, possibly some grudge matches/ money matches, then run a small bracket with whoever comes out. Maybe 5 or 10 dollar buy in and we can pay all the money back to winner and 2nd, or maybe 1st 2nd 3rd. The party room is just a deposit so I don't need any help renting it, its no cost so whatever people want to do for money can we can pay back 100% to players. Lastly, its a private residence as long as we are of age and respectful, we can do some drinking too. We can throw in for pizza or food too, there is a small kitchen in the party room. My goal is to do something regularly in preparation for either the comicade events, or other events people want to travel to.
If anyone has any ideas, or wants to discuss days and times, just let me know. I'm die hard MK but plan to play Injustice too so we can just keep this going and hit the ground running when that drops, or stick to MK. I plan to give Injustice a shot, although usually when I try new games I run back to MK right away. I'll make a more official thread and flier once I start working out details. Also, Rick has offered to bring 4 setups... so, god damn I guess that just about gets us rolling.
