Learning fundamentals

So Ive been playing since injustice and now playing mkx but not fully committed. I always get smacked In online and by my only friend that plays fighting games on my friends list. My buddy constantly stresses that I need to learn fundamentals. He gives me tips and pointers but sometimes just sounds like nonsense. I really want to get better at fighting games and commit but I think I need a dumbed down version of fundamentals. Also who is a good beginner character in mkx? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe subzero is a simple character and can be advanced as you learn. Subzero also teaches you many attributes that every fighter should have such as patience and better decision making.

I know this is sort of de-motivational, but I don't think you can force good fundamentals on someone.

Scorpion/Sub-Zero are the quintessential "Ryu" of the MK universe. Either one should be fairly easy to pick up as a character and build off of. Kotal Kahn and Johnny Cage are good characters to probably learn footsies with as well.

Median fundamentals: Frame data,
combos, meter management,poking,footsies,running,run cancels,special moves,reversals,execution.

Advanced fundamentals: Baiting, character matchup knowledge, mind games,reads,pressure,breaker use zoning,mixups.


I would break this all down but maybe later just a general of what I think and how I think fundamentals are and work.
