General/Other - Kung Lao Kung Lao Meterburn Glitch Solution

So I spent a lot of time in the thread with the poll of whether Kung Lao should be banned from upcoming tournaments. I thought about posting this in that thread, but it seems to have gotten a little out of hand, with more focus on whether this is even viable, other characters glitches being banned previously, etc., while focusing less on actual solutions.
I think the biggest thing to remember about all of this, is that it is not fair to ANYONE. It's not fair to players to have to fight against a potentially game altering glitch. It's also not fair for the Kung Lao mains who have spent hours in the lab, and money to go to these events to be told they can't play due to circumstances outside of their control. The thing that stuck for me from the other thread was there was a lot of differing opinions about the effect something like this could have on a match, which lead me to this solution...
The use of the meterburn glitch should be treated just like a pause mid match. It is up to the player to decide how they want to deal with the use of the glitch. Who am I to tell you that you have to DQ someone for using it?
So basically there would be 3 options
1. Kung Lao used glitch. Kung Lao player must use the meter gained from glitch (whiffing an ex spin for example) and loses round.
2. Kung Lao uses glitch. Must whiff an ex spin, and play continues when both players are ready.
3. Kung Lao uses glitch. Opponent takes that game of the set.
Obviously in situation 2, if the Lao player is a repeat offender, punishment may escalate.
To clear up any confusion and to make sure everyone is on the same page, a player would be wise to inform the Kung Lao player, and any TO or coach of their stance on the glitch before the round (though this isn't the case for pause situations).
This is by no means a perfect solution, and I encourage everyone who has input to please share it in this thread. But pls remain on topic, I love this game and I'm super hype for Combo Breaker, and I want everyone who is coming to this great event to have a good time and play on a level playing field.

So Kung Lao's can't wakeup teleport? That seems like a crucial part of his game to eliminate.

While it can seem like a crucial part of his game, he has a very serviceable wake up spin, and I can't think of any other way that would allow him to do it during a match, seeing as it grants him a free bar of meter.

It's probably better to just let it rock or ban the character completely than have some weird set of rules that players will basically have to be policing each other throughout the match.

I honestly don't think letting it rock is a viable solution. Imagine if someone won the tournament with this, or if you lost a match as a result of this happening to you. I also don't think banning the character completely is viable either, as that wouldn't be fair to the people that have mained Lao since day one. I also think, based on what most Lao players have said, that wake up tele isn't a part of their regular game plan anyway. And finally I think if you asked any Lao player would they rather not be able to use wake up tele, or not participate in the tournament at all, the answer would overwhelmingly be the option I listed above.

As stated in the OP, this isn't a perfect solution, but this thread is geared toward finding the best solution, and I appreciate your input.

Mains: Not Sure Right Now ...
nah. too tough to regulate and a player may not even notice in the heat of the match. And also, how do you prove it? This will never be enforceable. gotta ban him. I just got hit with online and thought I was nuts. I coulda swore dude only had one bar lol It cost me the match.

This is not enforceable
How would it be any less enforable then a round pause? The glitch can only be done from a wake up, so you will clearly see it. The most common suggestion from previous thread was auto DQ if some used the glitch. How would this be these enforceable then that?

I'm a Kung Lao player and I say straight up its not fair and needs to be removed. I don't want broken tech on my character and I will not be using it.

Who wakes up teleports anyway that's unsafe as hell your just asking for an uppercut.

Seems like a bug anyway. If there are any tournaments before the next patch (which should be pretty fucking soon right Tanya?) Whoever is hosting a tournament can handle the case in whatever way they see fit.

What's more stupid?
Letting it rock...
Or banning an entire character with its own community?

I honesty don't believe that this will be a thing.

Therefore my answer would be to let it rock till hotfix.

If you ban lao you must also ban mos ermac and sorcerer quan (at least! I bet other things in this game have meter related bs that we dot know yet).

I would tend to agree with this, but it would be very hard to enforce.

That, and there are people that actually think it's OK to use it.

Sorry to bust into your pink rose flavoured thread, but if it is not banned - it can be used, no matter the salt it may bring. Cyrax and Kabal salt through MK9, never forget.

Truth spoken. If everybody is on agreement anyway that a free bar of meter is broken, I'm sure players would be virtuous enough not to abuse it.
Hahaha. While I still don't think it necessitates a ban, what fantasy land are you living in where people actually wouldn't specifically pick up Lao JUST to use this glitch?

Fantasy land? Hm maybe it's cause I live in Canada :p Nah ur right though, I meant like a soft ban though like "we'll trust you not to do it but if you do then there will be consequences". Basically I just wanted to bump the thread since nobody had responded to it in 20 minutes and thought it was well written.

You must have no clue about Kung Lao then. His wakeup tele is super punishable and doesnt really have many uses, his best wakeup is spin by far. The real problem is hat toss because that would be a viable option from fullscreen but you can't let people get a free bar of meter everytime they get knocked fullscreen.

Why is this thread still a thing when Combo Breaker already announced they are banning the glitch? Is there another major before JUne 2nd when the Tanya patch comes?

Players shouldn't be responsible for enforcing rules or determining punishment.

This puts players in a really awkward spot, do they be a "jerk" and take the free W or let it rock and potentially lose. Players have complained about the pause button situation for this exact reason, it's best not to create another.

They don't have any say, the refs do. Thats the entire reason for the refs to be there, so the other player doesnt have to make a decision.
