Regarding when exactly we can expect season 2 of Killer Instinct, the date is October 15th, 2014. Today Xbox announced several details about their line-up, including the editions and pricing. Below are the details taken from Xbox.com:

“Killer Instinct” (Iron Galaxy, Microsoft Studios). “Killer Instinct: Season 2” begins Oct. 15, starting with new fighters TJ Combo and Maya, enhanced game modes and a completely revamped interface.
The “Killer Instinct: Season 2” – Ultra Edition ($39.99) includes eight fighters with a new fighter added each month, select fighter costumes and accessory packs, and “Killer Instinct 2 Classic.”

The “Killer Instinct: Season 2” - Combo Breaker Pack ($19.99) includes eight fighters starting with TJ Combo and Maya, and a new fighter added each month.
Additional fighters for Season 2 can be purchased for $4.99 each and fans can get TJ Combo early by purchasing “Killer Instinct: Season 2” - Ultra Edition between Sept. 23 and Oct. 14.

I wouldn't. Wasn't this the original plan for the first 8 characters and delays and delays caused a mess.

To be fair, it was only 20 for the first 8 chars, the 40 dollar pack you get the extra costumes and original KI in addition.

Im guessing the pricing model will be the same for this, so is 20 dollars per 8 chars that bad? I say no.

They have revealed 25% of the chars for the season pass, same as NRS. (They have the first DLC char and none of the other 4 are revealed, yet you can buy season pass)

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the uninformed overreaction here, as it's par for the course on the Internet...

The pricing for season one was $5 a character, $20 for all 8 characters, or $40 for the characters plus come costumes and accessories AND KI1. Season two will retain the same pricing strategy. Therefore, getting all 16 characters will only cost you $40, unless you want KI1 and/or KI2, and the costumes and accessories. At no point in time ever did Microsoft, Double Helix, or Iron Galaxy state that buying the Ultra Edition of season one would get you anything for season two. No one is forcing you to buy anything, least of all the classic games and accessory packs.

Gamers these days sure are a whiny, entitled bunch...

I actually only bought the Ultra Combo pack- and accidentally upgraded it to the Premium thinking that's how I would unlock the new character stages.

Had I known otherwise, I would have stuck with the Ultra. Costumes aren't worth that money, and most of the classic costumes are either bad, or break the tone of the game completely.

It's really not a bad deal to just buy the $20 edition of each season- you aren't missing out on much by not having shoddy classic costumes that are the product of an era where detail was forcefully limited.

Not even the mass amount of ignorant comments and misinformation in this thread can kill my hype for this.

I seriously thought they'd be done after season 1. Very surprised and looking forward to some more variety in KI.

And for the record, what is the goal of character secrecy at this point? I'd feel way better laying down cash now (which they need, since this is going to take forever, again) if I knew what I was getting.

Drop the shadow act and show us some concept art to keep us warm for the next 6 months its going to take before the game is complete.

Comparing to Injustice:
-Assuming you buy things as soon as they come out
-want all costumes
-want all characters


Game = $60
Costume packs $3 x 8 = $24
DLC Characters (season pass) = $15
Martian and Zatanna $5 x 2 = $10
Man of Steel Skin = $1

Total = $110
For 30 Characters and all costumes

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of those numbers.



Now IIRC KI is...
-Game = Free
-first season pass (including all costumes) = $40
-second season pass (including all costumes) = $40
-Classic KI's = Free

Total = $80
For 16 Characters and all costumes plus the classic games



Pretty fair IMO, and I say that as someone who was skeptical about MS's pricing plan.

WHOOOOA Wait a minute, hang on rage train, stop at simple question station:

Who's forcing you to pay $80? You can pay $40 for all of the characters in the game. $40 is cheaper than $60 you paid for MK9 or Injustice, then add in the DLC which cost you how much again? Good lord the rage.

PS KI3 has the best online play I've ever seen in a console game. I can finally play my buddy online and it feels like it's offline play. I know there's inherent latency, but shit did we NOT get that with Injustice and obviously not MK9.

And legit lol at @RonnyRAGE 's comment. Who buys a fighting game, plays through Arcade mode and says "welp, I beat the game". You're missing the point of fighting games.

Sorry guys, you have no grounds to be angry with DH or IG. Not even close.

I dont know what you guys are complaining about.. If you didnt want KI classic or K2 Classic then its $40 for 16 characters.. If you want those classics games then that is what you are paying for.. If you dont want to pay $80 then buy the version that doesnt have K2 classic and stfu..

Ile jus wait until they reveal the characters I want and pay 5 bucks for the ones I want! I wish a lot of tym kids weren't so one dimensional and played something besides mk or injustice! But Ki is not for the weak so yea!
