We've all been waiting for this game for so long... there are stories out there that should be told.

I was at work coming off of my lunch break as I was constantly refreshing my twitter. As I started to walk downstairs and go back to work I checked my phone as I got a text from my co-worker saying "It was just announced". I also saw a tweet from CrimsonShadow of an article he just put up. I ran upstairs with the biggest grin on my face. I wanted to scream like a little girl, but I was at work... :(

Here's a story from Max's channel that also made me smile due to the fact that I'm glad he got to do it the right way:

I hear some of the guys from Weaponlord are working on this. If so...well I was already sold but, double sold dude.
When I saw that KI pop up I screamed so loud my girlfriend thought I had hurt myself (I was watching downstairs, she was upstairs) and she shrieks and runs down like "WHAT!? WHAT!? WHAT HAPPENED!?" and I was like "Killer. Instinct." and stared at the screen wide-eyed when just as the dude yelled Ultra-Combo!
True story.

WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

Yeah. When Microsoft bought the license, there was a glimmer of hope; but I figured it was just a corporate move for portfolio/future licensing/or some long-term project. I saw rumors about E3, but I didn't really take them seriously given how many rumors fly by on a yearly basis.

And then.. there it was. It took my way back; I was a big fan of KI 1+2 and KI Gold on N64. Back at the time when the first KI was released, Rare was at their peak. You simply didn't see games that looked like that in the arcade, and the game ads and screenshots dominated magazines and gave everybody hope for the 3d era. Maybe real-time 3d would eventually look this good?

KI was also a huge strategy-guide game, as everyone was hungry to figure our the game system, all the moves and the possible combos and linkers. I still remember the strategy guide in my head; big, huge, colorful pictures of Jago and Orchid.

This game personified swag. But upon seeing the reveal at E3, my first thought was "but will they do it Justice?" Rebooting a franchise is one thing, but creating a decent fighting game is a difficult task. It's not usually something newer companies get right on the first try, and there are pitfalls even for seasoned developers.

So far the feedback from guys who have gotten a chance to play it has surprised and impressed me. I'm cautiously optimistic, but also aware that the line between 'exciting' and 'broken' is a thin one, and I hope Double Helix is able to navigate it well.

It seems like they're trying to do things the right way; so here's to DHG and I wish them luck carrying on one of gaming's best-known US franchises.

My story, when i was a kid KI was my first fighter, I did not like the 2nd one that much, because it was on N64, and the pad was horrible to play whit, Now, almost 20 years later, Im sad that its a XB1 exclusive, Venezuela wont have online support so, XB1 wont have a market here, and even if it would, Im all against M$ politics, so I probably wont get a XB1 even if online was going to be suported here.

It's bittersweet for me as Killer Instinct for the SNES was my first video game ever, lord knows how many hours me and my little brother Larry spent on that game. as for KI2(Gold) many hours were spent on that as well and it really hurt when we began to realize that we may never get another KI game, finally we had accepted that fact. Then a few weeks ago when we started hearing more about how they were fucking up with the X-Box One with the DRM, Used Game restrictions and the like, I jokingly said to Larry, "Coming to your home in 2014 only on X-Box One!!!" we laughed thinking there was no possible way it could have been possible then that E3 rumor list came out I brushed it off until Halo Spartan Assault got announced and then at E3 low and behold Killer Instinct I was excited, ecstatic that is until I realized that it was on The XBone and even if it didn't have all that DRM and what not it would still cost upwards of 800 bucks just to get it and thus that happiness turned into an incomparable sadness. :(

When I heard Microsoft reissued the licence, I wasn't all that hype. And for good reason it showed.

The game looks amazing so far and I really want to play it. But as things look with the XB1 right now, there is no way in hell I'm getting it. If I can play the game without a fucking security camera and dumbass kinect watching my every move I might, might get it. Money is not the issue for me.

KI was a game quite ahead of its time when it first came out, but does it still stand the test of time now?

The game "looks" nice, but is it just going to be KI and II with flashier graphics? Fighting games have evolved beyond simple "combo porn", now.

I didnt even play the first ones, but that trailer got me hype.

But after a lot of deliberation I ust cant force myself to buy the XB1 for one game.

Get over here!
I don't know... I mean I was pretty excited because the announcer was hype. At the same time I immediately noticed the horrible quality of the "trailer". So it was bitter-sweet I suppose. I wasn't all dramatic... but I wasn't dull. Later I started figuring out that I personally wouldn't even consider the game KI. Now I suppose I am enthusiastic. I mean I will get it once I get an Xbox One. :)

I think my heart stopped for a few seconds eyes got a little watery as they showed gameplay and said YES YES i'm so hyped finally KI is back

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
I immediately knew it was gonna be Xbox One exclusive and blew my cheeks out in disappointment. KI only ever had a brief run during a very transitional time for the fighting genre too so I never really managed to muster any heartfelt attachment.

On top of this, why has it taken this long? Why did we not even get as much as an XBLA port of KI1 beforehand? Something just doesn't add up about all this to me...

Well at the very least, maybe this is a return to the original Xbox glory days and Microsoft will stop closing down their first party studios in favor of funding timed exclusive DLC.
