KI Season 2 May Add 8 New Characters/No Mercys

Earlier today some new information has trickled down the grapevine that will intrigue KI players who are anxiously waiting to see who else will make it to the Killer Instinct Season 2. With Season 2 being developed by Iron Galaxy Studios is it now being rumored that season 2 will add up to eight more characters. Basically, after the news broke during a PlayXBLA streamit was then proceeded to be "casual talk" and nothing official:

UPDATE – We’ve just gotten in touch with Iron Galaxy Studios community manager Alex Jebailey, and he’s stated that everything said on the PlayXBLA show was just “casual stream talk” and that nothing is official as of yet. Stay tuned for more.

Considering that there are only eight original characters left being: T.J. Combo, Riptor, Cinder, Kim Wu, Tusk, Maya, Eyedol and Gargos... the chances of all of these characters returning has to be great. Plus, who knows if Iron Galaxy Studios will be working on any brand new characters just like Double Helix created Sadira.

Mercy was added in UMK3. KI's finishers were called No Mercys and Ultimate combos. Ultimate combos were basically No Mercys that you could link at the end of a combo instead of doing an Ultra, if I remember correctly.

I think 8 characters is really ambitious, that doubles the roster. I'd be concerned on whether or not they can keep the fairly decent balance the game already has. I suppose that the way the game works mechanically that it's more than doable, nevertheless I can't help but be a little bit worried. That said, it's still hype as hell that there will be more content coming!

Am I unique in wanting some new characters?

I know alot of people want Riptor, Cinder, Combo, Maya, etc- but if we just go down the line of top requested classic characters, we won't get any new characters- like Sadira.

And by "new characters- like Sadira" I mean "new characters that play nothing like Sadira, because F* that character"

We got our source from EGMNOW and other gaming news sites so we assumed that the news was legit.

Any character who boxes is officially the shit, theres never been a non-cool boxing character.

TJ Combo is probably the worst out of them, but they can modernized him and make him look sex.

I may have agreed with this too until I played him. I don't know...I just always thought he was cool, especially in KI2. Had the best enders in the game, in my opinion. Looking at tier lists all these years later, it seems he was pretty bad, though. It was just a thing where his playstyle felt right to me and I ended up loving the character in turn.

I think TJ Combo has incredible potential for a redesign.

I just want this game to survive. I feel Double Helix was rushed by Miscrosoft but did a great job with what they did finish. It sucks that new developers are coming in to move the title forward. I hope they take the same approach the Double Helix guys did.
