i've finally figured out why i can't seem to get better...

Whenever i play this game against another person i always seem to be stuck on auto pilot mode. Trying to play the entire match like it was a routine. Playing off of pure reactions and guesses. For some reason i find it very hard for me to turn it off for some reason. It seems very rarely that i can play a day where this doesnt happen. One of the few days i do remeber not being this way was when i went up against Emperor_Gametime and was actually able to give him a run for his money. But that rarely happens :/

Anyone else have this problem?

It's like playing starcraft, figure out your playstyle first; then learn a bunch of situational mixups and play 100% reactionary.

Unless you main kabal, then obv you're doing it wrong and not IAGBing enough.

I'm the same way. Play someone that is really good over and over and never look back at playing anyone worse. You can play whomever, just don't start playing 15 ranked matches.

A couple months ago I was stuck in a rut and playing Mortal Kombat felt like a chore than actual fun.

I decided to step away from the game for 2 months and came back much stronger. The downtime basically reset me, I was able to shake off some bad habits and began exploring new styles of gameplay which turned out to be effective. I also watched footage of high level players (who play the same characters as myself) and studied what they did to succeed in a match-up.

Maybe you just need to do the same; my hiatus was longer than expected but all you need is one or two weeks off with some studying in between.

Finally, to improve you should always spar with people on your level or better. You will quickly realize that you can't do certain things to these individuals as you would to the random online warrior. Skilled players keep you on your toes and make you think outside of the box.

k cuz lately for me its just been some stupid routine you know. zone, dash in, b33 or 11 cutter, d1, backstep wiffpunish f21 combo and then back to zoning or cutter pressure, lol, its like u said i have a hard time thinking out of the box. I actually tried to anti air with standing 2!! x.x

standing 2 does anti-air, you just have to have the right spacing
