MACHKAAAAA!!!!!
I will admit it. I am extremely frustrated with the blocking system.
As I have said in other posts, certain aspects of the control scheme are a little too sensitive that it hurts the execution of special moves (most moves that involve back+forward), but I am noticing that this issue hurts blocking as well. Sometimes it is responsive enough that you can block a 50/50 combo no sweat, but a lot of the time the low attack will hit you even if you properly read the mix-up. Same thing going from a low to overhead block; block the low, I'm ready for the overh...how did that hit me?!
It's almost like simply switching from standing to crouching throws the block command off and the game kind of "forgets" that it is supposed to still be blocking. This may in fact be part of the problem with special move commands; thinking that you're blocking so the back input is not counted the same way as the forward+1,2,3...hence a lot of flying punches that turn into overhead whiffs.
Why not let us map block to another button or trigger? MK9 did a fantastic job using the trigger as both block and meter burn, so I'm not sure why the Street Fighter block was adopted.
I'm sure it is a pain in the rear to redo because of the games current infrastructure, but if we could use RT or R2 to block that'd be great, thanks!
