Question Is there a way to tag out without hitting the tag button?

I was playing with my friend last night, who swears he wasn't pressing the tag button (LB on Xbox 360) and somehow he was tagging out left and right.

As far as I knew, tagging, tag combos, and tag assists were all performed with the LB button.

Is he crazy? (I mean, regarding the tagging thing.)
