At least they let Xbox play Injustice too, MK9 was only for PS3.

I bet it's full of desperate people though.

"Competitive"

"Online"

Laughing at a game trying to be competitive online in 2013?

Nice.

Theres that one online game thats really competitive with a rapid growing esport scene... whats it called.. Its the one where 1+ million play each other online every day.... played internationally... It has a very frequently used online ranked laddder...

Then theres the second biggest esport, whats it called? That one thats also played online with a complex online ranking and ladder system... Its the one thats really popular in Korea...

Seems like all the most successful long-term esports became successful long-term esports because people were competitively playing them online.

Not denying that Injustice has some mediocre netcode and the game plays way worse online than it does offline, but if you want a game to really grow into a successful competitive esport you probably shouldn't be laughing at the idea of people playing online competitively.

If you want a game that wont really grow that much and where only people in very specific pockets of the entire world can really get to play competitively, then yeah i guess you can laugh dude

You are either referring to LoL or Starcraft. Both of those games have nothing to do with fighting games and are a moot point. Fighting games are never truly competitive online. You can have a great connection and think the game is running perfectly but trust me it is not.

I would explain but explaining isnt sufficient. You have to actually play competitive offline and then you will know the difference.

Also gamebattles is stupid

I've played offline and online and know the difference even if im not a FGC vet. I'm not denying that - but people a) not good enough / wealthy enough to travel to tournaments and b) not living in an area with an offline scene, our competitive has to be online. Its not the best but its as good as it gets for us. Its still competitive, its still fun. Its the only option for us. Laughing at it and calling "competitive + online" a moot concept entirely is kinda stupid and honestly pretty rude to the players trying to enjoy Injustice competitively to the fullest extent that they possibly can.

Would you rather people who have no choice but to play competitive online play their competitive online on gamebattles and via community-organize tourneys, buy the game, support the community, buy fightsticks (supports sponsors which support players and tourneys), and watch streams... Or would you rather anyone that didn't live in a urban area with an FGC community just didnt play or follow Injustice at all?

Starcraft and LoL are not irrelevant, even if they are very different. I have no idea how many people competitively play LoL ranked per day, but LOTS do. How many of those do you think actually show up at large tournaments and LANs, and have the opportunity to compete in those? An EXTREMELY small percentage. But the reason the game is such a huge esport is because 99% of the competitive players play online exclusively, but they support the game and its esport scene. Those huge first prizes wouldn't be there if there wasn't an online competitive scene.

Even if Injustice's online competitive would/will kinda suck because of delays, its still necessary if you want the scene to grow.

TL;DR: We put up with shit delay, bad connections and frequent disconnects and still try to play competitively. In the history of eSports such as SC2 and LoL, the ones who played online are the ones that made those games grow to what they are today... even though almost all of them never attended a single IPL or MLG event. You should be thanking people trying to play this game competitively online, not laughing at them.

Champion
The big difference is those games

A.) have history of primarily being online

B.) Lag isn't as detrimental in those games as FGs, two or three frames won't make too big of a deal in those games but in FGs it's disastrous

C.) They have non shit netcodes

D.) SC2 and LOL are irrelvant comparisons because once again online for now is not a good fit for competeitve tournaments outside of Skullgirls and GGPO

Let's not spark the old online-vs-offline debate again, please. -_-

If you don't trust the netcode for Injustice, avoid GameBattles. It's that simple.

Low tier? I was born in it, molded by it
The infrastructure we have in NA is not that great that's why it's laughed upon for competition because lag poses a huge factor.

Kudos to you guys that can benefit from this.

So much butthurt.

Any comp found on TYM is 100x better than the garbage you'll find on GB. It's full of brats that aren't good and only care about their win record, which leads to cheating, DDOSing and other gimmicks and unecesary shit talk, oh, and these people think this stupid ladder matters and they're the shit because it's associated with "MLG", have fun fighting 10 year old douchebags that bought a $2 MLG GamerPic and call themselves Pros in their Bios and try to cheat their way in top Ranks. I played Gears on GB, it's shit.

If you really cared about comp, find people on TYM, unless you just care about meaningless W/L go to GB.

I hate GB due to Gears, it was fun, but filled with DBags and ProHoes.

I wish I had a competitive community site for Gears back then, so I didn't have to resort to GB.
